also, this fact (not starting totti) in the first game would show the world(those who havent seen italy games after euro2004) that italy DOESNT rely on totti anymore, like in trapatoni days. yes they showed that already in friendlys like against germany, but still, this is world cup and all eyes will be watching that "show".
I agree, and i think lippi knowing del piero as well as he does will start him with luca toni and totti behind him, i dont think totti will play a full game but i'm sure totti will start.
Who cares what people think if we rely on totti, I no we don't have too and thats it. The fact is that with or without totti italy will have a run at the world cup, I'm just glad totti is their because it's always good to have a guy like that in your back pocket, him and del piero can turn any match around in a second. They both can make a great play out of nothing.

Byrone....Indeed, Del Piero did have an outstanding games with the Azzurri even before the germany game. I say It's pity not to start him, but anyways, I do trust boss Lippi.
Seven....I don't know why Totti is keeping that number on him, specially after what he did in Euro, number 10 to me seems to fit only Classy players, Totti is a champions no doubt, but he lacks something called class which Del Piero has it. Anyhow we shouldn't forget that, It's Del Piero who gave Totti that number in World Cup 2002.

Anything is possible under Lippi, who knows he will opt for the attack trio of DP, Gila and Toni and left Totti on the bench? Lippi always pick [;ayers that r on form or make use of their talent any way possible. But I thing I wish is that Zambrotta will be given his LB role. Despite the fact that Zambro is versatile, I don't wish to see that he plays in a new position in every game.
The squad is perfect as far as I know. Actually it didn't matter if Lucarelli/Iaquinta/Tavano gets the nod, all 3 will not play that much anyway. I'm pretty please with Lippi's selection anyway.
