Buffon
Oddo - Cannavaro - Nesta - Zambrotta
Camoranesi - De Rossi - Gattuso
Totti
Inzaghi - Toni

My formation of choice. Pirlo's inconsistent has been quite poor by his standards at Milan this season. With players like Totti and Camoranesi in midfield, creativity should not be a problem. De Rossi is a dynamic two-way midfielder who has other qualities which would suit Italy more. Placing Gattuso on Zambrotta's side will give Zambo the freedom to attack. I prefer Zambrotta on the left, and in my opinion Oddo is a better and more complete player than Grosso.

Pippo's benched Gilardino in Milan, and he'll do the same in Italy. Toni and Inzaghi will suit eachother well.

Wow, great squad :) Lippi did his homework :D

I would play like that:
Buffon,
Barzagli, Nesta, Cannavaro, Zambrotta
Camoranesi, Totti, Pirlo
Del Piero
Toni Inzaghi

a little too conservative in the play don't you think
BORING tactics
put De Rossi in Perrotta's place bdw
Its Italy, its supposed to be conservative. Besides, Zambrotta and Grosso are two very offensive fullbacks. With Perrotta and Gattuso in midfield they can easily pull forward with these two filling up the blanks. And with Pirlo in the center, who is very skilled in turning the play flank to flank and deep balls throw the middle I think it would work great.

And no, Perrotta must start. He has definetly been top 10 of all players in the Serie A this year and I would be dissapointed in Lippi if Perrotta were to be left out.

I'd take Materazzi any day of the week over Bonera. The latter is an overrated ex-talent who is nothing but mediocre in Parma. Besides, he's first and foremost a right back and plays as such in the gialloblu.

De Sanctis has been overshadowed by the superb Amelia this season. The Livorno keeper is one of the main reasons his team played so well. His age also helps justifying Lippi's decision.

Peruzzi's been totally outstanding with Lazio this season. In my opinion he's been the best goalkeeper in the Serie A, and not selecting him would've been nothing but blasphemy.

It's a good squad, though I would've rather seen Tavano instead of Iaquinta.
Peruzzi is always outstanding, and specially againstJuve. but sometimes he concedes very stupid goals, stands there and watches the ball, it didn't happen just once or twice.. I can't trust him in the world cup, In a league, it's another story.

I think Abbiati had a wonderfull year, he definitly deserves to be there with de sanctis..

Mark my words, Italy will have headaches in this world cup, because of the goalkeepers.

yeah i agree, abbiati should have been called. also he has played with cannavaro and they understand each other already. while peruzzi has had maybe one or two games only in NT with canna and co.
