The reason for his resigning is rumoured to be the next:

Yesterday at 21:00, he had a new meeting with Blanc to discuss the transfers. Blanc told him that there are serious negotiations to send Balzaretti and Marchionni to Fiorentina and Juve gets Pasqual. DD didn't like the idea and knowing that his opinion won't be taken in consideration, he decided to stop there.

This is just a rumour. No official statement yet.

Lo sostiene il sito del quotidiano francese l'Equipe secondo il quale il tecnico viareggino sarebbe in vantaggio su tutti gli altri candidati per il suo carisma, la sua esperienza e per la sua carriera ricca di successi. Secondo l'Equipe sarebbe stato lo stesso Lippi a proporsi alla società francese.

I dont think the official statement will clarify anything, so don't wait up!! It will be a statemtn about what the management sought interest for the club but had different visions with the manager so he decided to leave and bla bla bla..
