Team A are close to the cap and needs to sign their prospects/other players.
They have a guy with a shitty contract.
They also have a LD that would interest the Habs.

Habs say
we give you these assets for that LD and we'll take that bad contract[for the other player] so you can sign your prospects/other players.


the trade would never happen if we don't take that bad contract and don't have the cap space.

then we can buyout out that player or send him in the AHL because our owner doesn't give a shit
