Osgood has been very inconsistent, and he's prone to letting in soft goals.
That said, the guy has come through in the clutch many times before, and frankly, I still think that a healthy Detroit can do some serious damage in the playoffs. If Howard falters, I still think Osgood can get the job done.
Speaking of unfortunate injuries... Philadelphia got ass raped this past week. I was never sold on Leighton, but I bet Holmgren wishes he had taken care of that goalie situation at the deadline (Yes, I am Captain fucking obvious). Still, complacency rarely pays... especially when you're talking about the most important position on the ice. They've needed a goalie in Philly for about a decade; there's no way they should be sitting back thinking that Emery is the answer. I thought for sure that they would take a run at Halak, or even Turco for a postseason run (not a fan of Marty, although once upon a time he was awesome).
Anyway, it sucks for Philly that Carter is now out for 4 weeks or so...

Halak? Sure, if they gave up Jeff Carter, which was never going to happen. The irony of it all is that Leighton was with the hamilton Bulldogs at one time.
Anyway, Montreal sucks, they'll get it the playoffs, get blown out in the first round, and then becuase they are in cap hell, they won't have any money to do anything.
But hey, at least they have P.K. subban

Boston is in the same boat, minus the cap hell (things are pretty tight though).
I read that Carter rumor as well, but they could have gotten Halak for much cheaper than that. His price had obviously gone up as the deadline approached, but earlier in the year Gainey was talking about a 2nd round pick. Philly also has lots of youth up front that could have done Montreal well. Earlier in the season (even say January), Halak could have been had.
Or they could have sent Briere to MTL for Halak, and unloaded that fat contract. I kid, I kid... that contract is ridiculous... but then again, Montreal does love smallish forwards who make way too much money...
Even if Halak wasn't going to be dealt, there are still a few other goalies hangin around the league (Price for one, is better than what they have). If they wanted to really make a run, they could have maybe moved some bodies for Vokoun. The salary is ridiculous, but it's prorated, and there are some ways to work around that when you have some financial clout (minors). There are a few guys in Philly with bloated contracts, if I recall correctly.
Everything about Leighton's rise was just way too easy. I can't believe they thought he was the answer... sometimes coaches like "their" guys a little too much.
