We won't be able to keep Hossa, and that's probably a good thing. He was quite the waste, too expensive and we don't like players who don't step up.
Conklin is on his way out, so we'll probably look at a new goalie, not sure who.
Apart from that, Holland said we wouldn't be big players in the free agent market, so we'll see.
I hope we get somebody else in the place of Sammy, even though I like him.

Hossa wasn't too bad at all for Detroit. Just didn't put it together in the later rounds... especially against the Pens. I'd say it was a mindfuck for him, I guess. Still, 40 goals is nothing to sneeze at. This is a guy who teams like Montreal or Vancouver should be thinking about.

Yeah, I understand the crunch time argument, I'm just saying that he's a high caliber player. He's posted numbers at every stop. 26 points in 22 playoff games last year, 15 points in 22 games this year... a 40 goals scorer and almost a point a game player in between... he'll find a team to pay 6+.
Plus, he's definitely more defensibly responsible than your average point a game player in this league. He may get overlooked a little more for this in Detroit, where he's surrounded by guys like Zetterberg and Datsyuk, but he's no slouch.

It's no doubt he's a quality player, and he does do well on the defensive. But I don't know, there's just something about him that irks me the wrong way besides not showing up in the finals. Perhaps we should give him another chance, but only if he takes a pay cut because we can't handle his high wages.
