Great first playoff game of '09, beat Columbus 4-1. Osgood had a fantastic game and so did Franzen. Objective 1 accomplished. On to waypoint Bravo.

Beantown is just Pounding Les Canadiens right now, and I'm loving every minute of it. Note to Montreal: this is what happens when you try to play physical against the Bruins, and you're not a physical team; Montreal is running all over the ice, and they're constantly finding themselves out of position.

All the penalties don't help either...

Fantastic performance once again tonight - Boston is looking mighty fine right now. Great game, Montreal definitely used their speed more effectively tonight, and didn't run around quite as much. A couple really nice saves by Price, and a couple questionable goals allowed by Thomas. Really liked the way the Bruins responded before the end of the 1st period (Montreal came out flying), and it was a superb re-direct by Kessel to knot the game. Amazing atmosphere in that building - it's as good as any in the league; Montreal always gets up for playoff hockey, especially for this matchup. Hopefully Anaheim can get rid of San Jose, and the Bruins can make a deep run! I'm dying for this 37 year drought to end... I want to finally SEE my team win a Cup!

You have a great team Rollie, no doubt about it. Congrats and good luck. Gainey didn't know what to do and Julien made his team do want he wanted and they listened. Now let's hope it ends on Wednesday or Saturday and we have a new 5 year plan. Seriously, it's time Bob, new blood is needed.

Thanks Mark, I appreciate that. Being a Bruins fan these past 20 years has had its share of excruciatingly painful moments, and I'm extremely anxious to see this team go on a playoff run for a change. Hell, this was our first playoff series win in 10 years! That's fucking sad... and I'm so glad that streak has ended; this team is incredibly lucky to have Chiarelli, Julien, and a hard salary cap, because lord knows that Boston's success has NOTHING to do with the owner, one Jeremy Jacobs.

As for Les Canadiens, you're right - changes are needed, starting with a new coach. You do have some nice pieces to build on though, and I really think that with a couple significant pickups (plus a healthy Markov, etc.) your team will rebound quickly. I definitely don't think it's a full scale rebuild (like what my Bruins endured... so painful), by any means.

In the meantime, you'll just have to rest on your 24 cups, and unquestionable status as the greatest franchise in NHL history... that must be nice.

For the record, playing Les Canadiens is always a treat, and I look forward to the next time our teams meet; there's absolutely no better matchup in professional hockey.

    :coffee:

I was expecting some beer on my head or something. That was usually happens to Habs fans in Boston and vice-versa. :p

I'm still wondering why we and especially New Jersey(who were in a safe playoff spot) fired Claude. I guess some stupid veterans didn't like how he coached and went over him and threw him under the bus by talking to the GM.

I can see the Bruins in the final vs Detroit.
