They have the largest arena in the NHL, (21,700 seat capacity), that is sold out every game, plus the arena itself cost almost 300 million to build.

Also keep in mind that the fanbase, (Myself and Mark Included) buy everything under the sun that has the Canadiens Logo on it. And we are international

2 things keep holding the Canadiens back when it comes to Free Agency.

#1) The ridculous income taxes that have to be paid in Quebec.

#2) The fans and the media. Trust me, you've never seen anything like it. It has literally scared players away from coming to Montreal

Koivu got raked over the coals because he didn't speak french. One of the most wonderful captains in Habs history got treated like a second class citizen by the extremely vocal minority because he didn't speak french.

Well, that's no excuse, really. Since it's the fans who do that, they hurt their own club. It's like the morons who yell out monkey chants throughout stadiums in Italy.

It's not like being passionate and sensible at the same time is some sort of anomaly. Being proud about one's heritage and a complete asshole do not go hand-in-hand. Or at least shouldn't.
