Cassano seeks €1m compensation?
It’s reported Antonio Cassano has chosen to counter Sampdoria’s contract termination request by demanding €1m compensation for damaging his image.
The matter has gone to arbitration to decide whether Samp can terminate Cassano’s contract for insubordination following his blazing row with President Riccardo Garrone.

Until now the player has repeatedly apologised and declared he wants to stay at Marassi, but there could be a change of tack.

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, Cassano’s lawyers have lodged a request for €1m compensation for the damage done to his public image.

He claims that the air was cleared in a telephone conversation with Garrone after the incident. Only afterwards did the club demand a formal written apology, which Cassano refused to sign.

The arbitration process will first attempt a conciliation, then judge based on the evidence put forward by both parties.

There will also be witnesses called to testify who were present at the infamous argument.

A verdict on whether Samp can terminate his contract should be provided by the end of 2010.

I read Cassano's book yesterday and I can only conclude that he's not the type for a serious club. It was written last year or something, so supposedly after he had had the Sampdoria experience and gotten all serious, but as he says himself very little has changed in his mindset. He just doesn't want to be a serious professional, he doesn't like training hard, he just likes to have fun. He's nothing like DP or Nedved who are so admired, and never will be. Never wanted to be.

Talented yes, but for people who want to see players try hard and sacrifice you'll never be happy with him. He already turned down Juve at least twice in his career, so he's not tempted by our so called big club experience, not even in the best of times when we were all that.

Did he say he turned us down?

Interesting, considering Secco said it was a "done deal" between himself and Cassano, but others intervened.
I don't know about recently, but back when he played for Bari Moggi came to make a deal and from the story he tells he could have very easily reached an agreement. But Cassano didn't want Juve or Torino, bad climate etc. His mom thought it was so far from Bari (he was 18 then). He wanted Roma and Totti.

Agnelli distances Juve from Cassano
Andrea Agnelli has distanced Juventus from reports linking the club with a move for out of favour Sampdoria fantasista Antonio Cassano.

The 28-year-old looks set to leave Marassi after Sampdoria asked that his contract be rescinded following his “gravely offensive” behaviour towards Riccardo Garrone.

Juventus have been frequently linked with Cassano, partly because they were close to signing him a couple of years ago, only for a couple of board members to express their disapproval.

“Juve have other plans,” Agnelli said. “There isn't space for him.

“I hope he finds fortune elsewhere. I will suggest that we sign Alberto Aquilani outright.”

Agnelli was also drawn on speculation regarding Gigi Buffon's future at the club amid reports linking the goalkeeper with Manchester United.

“Gigi has been the star of Juventus for 10 years and he will always be so.”
