If KP plays every game Mavs has no chance sadly. He blocked everything like a Gobert and shooting over everyone like a Durant. Insane.
KP transitioning to beast mode after long injury layoff is ridiculous and key. Because even if Doncic is best player on court, all the other players are advantage Celtics (or even between Brown and Kyrie, Kyrie played bad tho).
Which will be felt in a game of runs as NBA is now. Mavs role players can't hit 3s, and not getting lob dunks due KP or their wings packing paint daring Mavs role players to hit 3s.
And they have Jrue, White or Brown just focusing on taking turns wearing down Kyrie, so pretty much just daring Doncic to score everything when they hyper focus to shut down Kyrie. DD jr and PJ Washington not hitting 3s, and no drop coverage but wall up so no lob dunks (Mavs had historical volume lob dunks all playoffs until this game).
So basically Celtics schemes telling Mavs and J Kidd, is anyone but Doncic gonna show up or what?
Almost thought Celtics were being too cute insisting to shoot only 3s early 3rd, they were hot first half, but over reliance on it led to them dropping 29 pt lead to 8 pt. Almost was thinking here we go again they all think they Steph Curry full time. But then Brown, Tatum started attacking basket and big lead was back and it's a wrap

Mavs role players have like 1-2 games at most per series were they can shoot from 3. Otherwise most of the assists for Doncic most series was feasting on mismatches so they have to double and he does lob dunks.
With this celtics personnel they don't double on inside the 3 pt line so no drop coverage and no easy lob dunks.
They will dare PJ and Jones jr to shoot 3s and they can't do it consistently. Atleast PJ was smart enough to realize it and started attacking basket. Kyrie had 3 elite players rotating on him all game to keep him quiet. So Doncic never had him as an outlet to assist to.
If spamming lob dunks don't work you have to be able to hit your 3s, which is not Mavs role players consistent forte. Especially vs Celtics who is the best 5 out team in league in terms or hitting you with efficient volume 3s. So need to match that or it's uphill battle nonstop.
But the biggiest factor is KPs inside defence. Who plays this well off big injury lol

He was bad for sure, but for a reason, his speed advantage is gone this series because Jrue Holiday and Derick White could keep up with him all day. All nba level defenders. And KP forcing him to do very difficult fall away jumpers inside, there was no space for any lay ups.
Kyrie has tendency to sleep for a half and try to turn him 2nd one. Well this finals he needs to ball out from first minute or it's already too late.

But homecourt advantage seems to play a big role in NBA so I hope Mavs can turn it around when they are at home
Only a season after the horrible highlighter piss yellow jerseys they've gone for a re-brand. Not sure why they need two purple jerseys, but the black is nice and obviously much better than the yellow.
One thing everyone has noticed is how the Jazz name has been dropped, and I don't think this is an anomaly. Ryan Smith is going to push the whole Utah brand now with his NHL team, which will only be known as Utah next season. Even though Smith has spoken about the Jazz identity with Utah and what it means to the community I think he's leaving it open for the teams to have some shared identity and this could even culminate in dropping the Jazz name altogether (I'm sure NO would pick it back up). They are pushing the mountain design which goes some way to appease the fan base with this classic image. I suspect this is something a new brand will be based around (Mountaineers, Yeti, Blizzard, etc). Losing the J-note logo would be the greatest shame, it's brilliant.

What happens when they moved franchises around like crazy in past (only 5 organisations in nba remain in city they were made with original name lol). Was as easy like changing underwear lol.
Like Jay mentioned, NO would fit to get it back Jazz name. Because that's where the franchise originated. Which makes sense, New Orleans is famous for Jazz music. Was moved to Utah and kept name, least jazzy place in US.
More confusing is. New Orleans Pelicans used to be Charlotte hornets 88 to 2002. Became new Orleans hornets, up to 2013 when they became new Orleans Pelicans (hornets reminded them too much of Charlotte, pelican is the state bird).
When they left Charlotte 20 years ago, nba added new expansion team to city of Charlotte, named Charlotte Bobcats. That same Bobcats in 2013, when NO Pelicans changed from hornets to Pelicans, decided to change their name to Charlotte Hornets.
Even tho current Charlotte hornets organisation has nothing to do with the Charlotte hornet's between 88 to 2002.

Lol they weren't getting new fans by moving to new Orleans and being called hornets still. Apparently they did survey, chose Pelicans simply because it's louisiana state bird and need identity marker to rally behind.
They desperately could use the Jazz name back.
