Do you think the future is bright for Minnesota? Ant is obviously the centrepiece but McDaniels and Reid should be key pieces around him. There appears to be issues around ownership and Mike will need replacing. Rudy has a few years left at his current level. Is KAT leaving?

Seems like a roster adjustment needs to be made next season but is this a team that basically competes as long as Ant is around? Think I'm basically asking what fan expectations are. My own personal view is that Wolves might have needed to win it this year. That's probably my own jaded Jazz mindset lol.

Yes for sure this season was the perfect storm opportunity to go all the way (expecting Memphis and others to improve in West), until they ran into Doncic.

But really its just run it back, and get a secondary ballhander playmaker and scorer, guard or wing, that can create their own shot, that can help Ant, replace Conley a little when its crunch time. Wether you can find such a guy cheaper (Clarkson, Reaves and Sexton types), or you need to trade Kat to get such a player, is a bigger question. This off season will be really interesting to follow, coming to western conference finals unexpextedly in first try with this team healthy (last year 3 of the pieces were injured), is a good sign, so most likely they will run it back. Or Conelly might shock us with a big Kat trade that gets a duo of guard/wing or forward. Who knows.

But most likely just run it back and find a shot creator to help Ant.

Lol that narrative doesn't work on football as it does in nba. It allways been a badge of honour and expected for superstars to join the biggiest team with best players.

While it's frowned upon in nba in a way.

That was ridiculed at first due to lack of balance. But then everyone started tuning daily and they became super popular? As said, football fans celebrate superstars joining up lol. So not like NBA, where balance and parity is judged. While it's really not in football.

I know that there is no balance in football

These races have allowed Madrid to become like this

in the case of Mbappe, the situation is similar

He can't win the Champions League and run like a snake to the best club in the world

This is going to be Oklahoma City's conference very soon, for a long time.

Tons of young star talent and a war chest of trade assets.

To be fair he's always wanted to play for Madrid. Their success breeds this, it's a positive domino effect. And it's only going to become more pronounced over the next 10-15 years with all this modern success.

I find Madrid's success all a bit boring anyway. It's essentially a state-backed club and they've always benefited from the political and financial clout this brings. It's the flagship for the municipality and Castille. We had something similar for years under the Agnelli's but the difference in political power is totally laughable now, we get attacked from all sides and have enemies who can harm us, we have to operate within a league with one hand behind our backs. Madrid have Barcelona and then a bunch of clubs who might despise them but have no means to do anything about it, and totally rely on them for sustainability.

Sorry couldn't see that this wasn't a football thread as I'm posting from a sun lounger.

I think OKC are the best positioned team for sure when you look at talent, age, picks etc. They've done a great job. It doesn't guarantee success of course but I'd be surprised if they dont win a couple of championships. In fact, from this position it'd be an abject failure. But I see some other teams being sneakily good in the same time frame and the strength of the WC will be another factor.

Like it was with KD and Westbrook? One NBA finals appereance...

Luka isn't even in his prime yet and is already by far the best player in the league (with Joker)...he's gonna own that conference/league if he has team similar to this now

OKC has the blueprint to build a dynasty, and alot of excellent players on rookie contracts still.

But they need two things.

1. Genuine size. They have zero bigs, Chet is a big in blocks only, the rest plays like perimeter forward. Needs someone with size who can bang next to him plus a backup.

2. They need a genuine nr 2 option star. Jdubb Williams is a 3rd option at best imo, so is chet. So shai who is a true superstar nr 1 option need a clear nr 2 next to him.

The competition is so strong in the west that it's complicated to build a dynasty.

Many talented rookies, they are taking advantage of the low contracts of their players currently, but when it comes time to renegotiate it will be a question of not repeating the same mistakes as in the past.

They already have an MVP caliber player in Shai, young legitimate building blocks in Holmgren, Giddey, and Williams.

And just as important, if not More so, they have a ton of desirable 1st round picks, and will have significant cap space.

They are already a legit team with their best players being in the age range of 21-25

- - - Updated - - -

They have up to 5 1st round picks in what will be an absolutely loaded draft next year.

They could easily move a few of those for a legit star.

And then watch out

What do you make of JJ Redick as the next Lakers coach? I had to check the calendar for a moment.

I rather they hire him, as it signals a move for the future, to be honest.

I mean. It's not as if he is going to create miracles here.

That team can't until both LeBron and AD are off the books

@JuveJay just saw this on Reddit — no idea how legit that source is full disclosure
He'll get linked to everyone as there's not really a roster he wouldn't fit. But I don't think he'll leave this off-season, he likes it in Utah and should get extended.

If the Jazz were to go break it all down for a 2025 tank then you'd be looking more at teams who have lots of picks and interesting young players. OKC constantly get mentioned and they are probably the strongest suitors due to their assets. You're talking multiple picks plus a player the Jazz feel they can improve. Can't imagine that the Jazz or Randle would be interested in the trade that much either. IMO the Lakers have nothing to offer of interest, but Lakers always get linked to players who will make them contenders as their beat writers think the smaller teams like Utah only exist to trade them players for a dollar and a sandwich.
