I personally think the Toronto players will be better in the long run and the oldest is JV at 26. I see Kuz being really good and you already know how I feel about Lonzo. Haven’t seen Zubac much so I can’t say much there.

But then again, it always benefits a team to trade their star player outside of the conference all things being equal.

Khris Middleton as a centerpiece maybe? But he's not even better than Kuzma, and is 4 years older. I don't see where the pieces are for Milwaukee to make a deal. Toronto, yes. Those 2 aforementioned guys plus that OG cat could be a good starting point.

But objectively speaking, are those three a better package than Kuzma, Zubac, and Lonzo? I'm not sure about that. The Pelicans would be getting a much younger core with these three than they would with Toronto

Middleton is Free agent this summer, no one should take him seriously in a trade piece for major player (different in off season if they did sign and trade). He still a fantastic player tho, but not as much as before now that he doesn't defend as well. Bucks barely own their picks and dont have trade assets to do this deal imo (tho Bledsoe and Brogdon two very underrated players).


Best player that can be offered now by the teams not called Celtics, is the Raptors and Siakam, but problem is again the other pieces. Delon Wright is back end of the rotation type guard, the hyped OG would normally be hot asset, but he has stunk it up this season, FVV or JV tho decent to good players (JV is underrated)wont be taken seriously in a trade in themselves.


Best they can offer is most likely Siakam, Ibaka a late first and one of the others for filler (and to entice with Ibaka they prolly will have to add 2 picks because his contract is bad value for his output). It would deplete their depth but it's all they have to work with.


I'm not sure they should tho, short sighted, they already have a superstar pining for California and who wont resign, why go for another, as exciting as it is for few months, its unlikely to last. And not sure they can afford it post summer anyways without gutting entire roster, because Lowry's gigantic contract is going nowhere.



Most interesting for me is the aftermath with Jru Holiday, he's amazing imo, I hope Minnesota go for him if NO hit the reset button and rebuild.

Apparently, Popovich told the Pelicans GM not to "cave in" to the Lakers.

Can't do that. Absolutely not allowed. You cannot tell someone from another team what they should or should not do regarding that other team's player.

That's unusual. What would Pop gain from this?

I think the line of thinking , if that your goal is to totally rebuild, and have cap space this summer, that the Lakers may present one of the better options. Maybe not the best, but the Lakers could tick all those boxes. Young talent in Kuzma, Zubac and Lonzo. 1 st round draft picks. Expiring contracts in KCP. They can make the salaries work and give New Orleans cap space. I don't think its something that can just be brushed off. A total rebuild by New Orleans will require a trading partner that has all of these.

Zubac averaging 19 ppg - 9.4 rpg - 1.2 bpg in 25.2 minutes over the last 5 games agains OKC, GS, Houston, Minny, Phoenix. 66.1% from the field and 91.3% from the FT line.

We're excited about him for good reason, especially after how poor he looked last year and to begin this season.

btw, what do you guys think about the Nets making a bid for AD? they have cleared up the Pierce-KG mess pretty well, and could have a lot of cap space in the summer. if they can get a trade for AD going, and maintain the cap flexibility for another max, thats a potential contender. plus theyre almost NY, so do they have that big market going for them. but i dont know if they have assets to challenge Boston or us. DLO, Levert, Dinwiddie, that center that blocks everyone and maybe Kurucs.

Anyone that makes a move for AD, in order for Davis to seriously consider it, needs to have a star already in place. There would be no point in him re-signing somewhere if the team he goes to has depleted their assets and have no star next to him. I think Brooklyn is out of the equation.

Boston can't trade for him until after the season. The Rose Rule prevents it. Irving already falls under that provision

but i dont see a trade happening before summer anyway. i mean, why would NO settle for something from us now, when they can potentially get a better offer from them in the summer? and our offer will still be there

Kyrie would have to re-sign first. You can't just assume that Kyrie would re-sign if they tell him they have a trade lined up. If they make the trade before he re-signs, he is in line to lose a lot of money.

Kyrie is a wildcard. He wants to be the #1 and if he thinks AD can take that spot over him, he wouldn’t mind leaving. Dude thinks the earth is flat, one of the best ballers out there but dude has a couple screws loose. Can’t really take his word on staying.

The Celtics would be hard pressed to manage a roster with 4 players totalling 120 million on their cap, though. I can't see the Pelicans taking on either long term contract of Hayward or Horford.
