Gonna give Haliburton credit. Best pg in the league imo. Would love to see a Bucks and Pacers playoff series.

And everyone please all-star my boy Alpi Sengun.

do you consider Ben Simmons a PG?
Not really. His assist stats are pretty decent but nothing special, and the way he plays his unorthodox. I mean, Lebron and MJ both played PG before with great success but it's the whole thing of putting a guy on paper as something and then on the court it's either something else or a hybrid at best. It's 5 on 5 and depending on the coach these guys are moving around the court a lot. For instance I wouldn't consider dribbling the ball up the court and making the first pass as meaning someone is an authentic PG. As long as it's someone with decent handle they can do that. I've seen THT making lob passes to bigs lol.

Doncic archetype is scoring guard/shooting guard 3 level scorer first and PG second. Its what he was in Madrid, and when he played with Dragic for Slovenia.

But for NBA he is defenitely the PG for Mavs, not just primary ball handler but primary playmaker, his style is similar to Harden, but he is even more of a playmaker then peak Harden.

Nothing wrong with calling him a PG, PGs are alot of scoring (smaller) combo or shooting guards types now. No more just CP3, Rondo or Ricky Rubio types anymore, that changed long time ago.

So in positional system Haliburton is no more of a PG then Doncic, even if Haliburton gets compared to Nash etc. Doncic can coexist with a PG as SG or SF or be the primary PG. Either works.

Shai technically plays as PG for OKC, but in paper mainly, because they moved Giddey to SG, but he does alot of floor general tasks for them. Shai is more like the lead guard for them just out there being an assassin. Does some playmaking, but he doesnt build up for others like Doncic does. Shai plays more like Kobe sometimes lol.

I would disagree Haliburton is the best PG, IMO he quickly gotten overrated despite doing fine with magnificient jump as a player. He is the IT breakout player, but he needs to do alot more to be compared to the Doncics, Currys or even Fox of the world etc. Need to do it over full season etc.

So you consider Johnson a typical point guard then?
Not the size portion but in playing style he is a classic point guard archetype. He was a PG from get go, college onwards.

Ben Simmons was a PF that was changed to a PG when he came to the league. When they quickly realized he cant be wing with his offensive flaws (was trying to bill him as next Lebron in college), nor has the physical toughness to be a PF. So being a good athlete and playmaker was more or less only PG left for him.

Fun watching the Jazz right now. It always is when everything clicks. I'm not sure how it happened but Hardy kind of figured it out. Unfancied guys like Tech and Dunn in 1st, lots of depth on the 2nd/3rd lines - 10 man rotation with high energy. George blossoming, Young Bull becoming the player he could. Only seems like THT the odd man out.
