Football teams, Glenn Beck, local sports teams, it's like you have something new every week. And I don't criticize you for it, do I? If anything, it adds color.
Glenn Beck? :lol2:

So now Apple and Steve "Mobbs" are equivalent to a tryrannical, insane, war-mongering, hate spewing, borderline racist whose work continues to put more nails in the coffin of this country?

Man, if so, you are truly taking this too seriously, Martin.

So you're on a football forum saying it's silly anyone would care so much about a computer company. Do you want me to go on a computer forum ask if the people there find it silly that anyone would care about a football club? Because I think I could swing that.
Sure, go for it.

Yes, that's exactly what I said. Glenn Beck, whoever that is, is the same as Apple.

Football rivalry is what I love. If you think computer rivalry is cool, well, go for it Marty.
It's not that I think it's cool, it's just there. I care about computers, you care about football teams. I don't do it because I think it's cool, but because it has certain consequences to me. Some I like more, some I like less. Just like Dru cares about phones, say.

What consequences are there for you? Coding matters?

Because first of all I think that they are overpriced. Then they advertise an image which does not really live up to their products. For example the Mac Air was advertised as the thinnest laptop ever and in fact there were at least three other laptops thinner ahead o Mac Air's introduction. They advertise the superiority of their products where in fact when one looks closer one sees that they lack functions to other similar products in the market. They live up to an image they created ages ago when they had a different technology than IBM compatible computers where today they are exactly the same hardware.

There are idiots on all sides, yes?

Being anti-Mac isn't a sign of intellectualism any more than being anti-ManU or whatever else. We have our values and our tastes and we don't seem to care that our behavior is petty, did I see someone say "Inter merda"?

There are solid rational reasons to dislike Macs, which I've described to you in the past, and there are those purely based on taste.
I'm sure there are rational reasons to dislike Linux or Windows. As you said its comes down to personal preference. So as long as someone's computer meets their needs, what does it matter?

I mean it's not as if we are defined by the items we own. :shifty:

I bet Martin could make an argument to say that we are defined by what we purchase though.

I honestly thought Mac Air was a joke when it came out. Then I realized it was merely a bad idea.

As for marketing, it's not like other computer companies don't try to perpetrate the image of being a superior product. Look at Microsoft, every time they come out with a new version of Windows it's billed as the Messiah and usually has more bugs than a Louisiana bug zapper.

Correct. Which is funny, because you guys are reading way more into this than there really is substance to it, only to realize that it's about personal taste. Which is what I said from the beginning.

No, but they do say something about us sometimes, don't they? The items don't own us, we chose to own the items. Those items over others. It exposes our values.

    What functions do Macs lack?

lol that was pretty funny. Though I didn't get the Krusty joke... maybe that's the point :D

Comparing Apple and Barcelona is not a bad idea: while you may like or not like their intrinsic qualities, both brands are just trying too hard to buils a "special" feeling around it.
