It's popular saying "you people", it's not often accurate. We've had this conversation before.
Since we've had this conversation then quit "you people"-ing me.
If you want some solid reasons then get started on the DRM stuff. It's not like I'm keeping it under tabs, I've been bringing it up for years. And Apple is one of the worst perpetrators of DRM and vendor lock-in. That stuff isn't personal preference anymore than warrant less search and detention without charge is personal preference.
Well considering the majority of people purchase a computer because it does what they need it too. I, for example, like Mac (leopard, tiger, etc) better than Windows based partly on performance, but mainly on layout (the way the desktop is set up, ability to personalize settings, and the ease with which someone can do so). I'd say that is personal preference.
While I won't deny that Apple is very good at DRM and vendor lock in I won't pretend that I don't like my iPod. I mean all I do is play music and the occasional podcasts. Though I do really hate the iPhone. But at the same time I think any cell phone that offers similar features is ridiculous.
We crave simplicity. We couldn't survive without it. Every single national stereotype is false, but they're still useful in some cases. Is this an attack on generalizations now? Because that is applicable everywhere.
We all scream for ice cream. Does that mean we should eat a tub of it every day?
No need to get into an argument over generalizing a population. Been there done that.
I just disagree that your idea of a computer defining a person's values. At least pick something a little more invasive such as a vehicle or house.
