the importance of supporting your favourite team (4 Viewers)

So how important is football to you?Or to be more precise,how important is supporting your favourite team to you?I wont limit this to Juventus only,because there are people on the forums like Enron,Burke,fred_weasley etc who support other teams.

Lets keep this to 4 things ie Your Family,Your Work/Education,Any Other Sport And your favourite football team.What id like to know is the order you people place these 4 things in,according to your priority ie.Providing explanations for your answers would be good.

My priority list would be as follows.

1.Family
I think putting anything before your family is silly.People would do that,yes,but it doesnt make any sense as far as im concerned.Im talking about the family bond here ofcourse.That is and will always be the most important thing in my life stretching to my parents/siblings to my wife/kids in the future.

2.Work/Education
Just as important as your family IMO.Id hate to be a jobless prick who's couldnt study for shit.Being a Juventus supporter wouldnt count for much during hard such hard times.

3.Another sport
Cricket has always meant more to me than football.If i had to choose between watching a cricket final involving Pakistan or a Champions League final involving Juventus/A World Cup final involving Italy..id prefer watching the Pakistan match.This trend will continue my whole life i suppose,but Cricket is the biggest sport from where i come from.

4.Supporting My Favourite Football Team
When stacked against the other 3 options,supporting my favourite football team comes last for me.I am extremley passionate about football,but for me the 3 things mentioned above hold more value.

Now im waiting for the first idiot to come and say 'Juventus is more important than my life and my family'.No.Im not waiting.I already know the answer.

I tottaly agree with U Salman.

For me Family is definitly no.1 and like you said it would be really silly to have something above family (ofcourse there is always exception). Than there is work/education which will define you life and everything, and than for me is Juventus. And when you look at how things are standing it's easy to realise that Juve is no.1 for me when you consider that first two things are essential for life, atleast for me. Other sports are ofcourse are last for me, cuz Football is my favorite game and than is coming Tennis and other sports. Ofcourse to Pakistanian is Cricket more important cuz it's yours national sport from what seen and it's tottaly understandable to rate cricket above football.

But I think that Salman thought about priorities, like are you willing to sacrifice your work or family for Juve or what you consider more important family or Juve etc.

However with good planinnig you should have time for everything. I know that I two years ago was on birthday party and still managed to install TV in basement and watch Roma - Juve game too

I'm going to get a lot of slack for this i'm sure..but i think of myself as a football fan first and an Arsenal fan second..i always want Arsenal winning trophies playing good football..and i dont know how i will react if they were like Chelsea for example..now i'm not saying that i wont support them anymore..but i wouldnt value the trophy as much as i would if we played good football..but thats probably just me.

juve is definitely more important than work/education to me. but it's obvious that i need work/education to survive, so i won't be a fool and revolve my life around juve at the expense of income. although, i do spend my work hours on these forums and reading football news.

I just juggle the other things to leave me as free as possible to support Aberdeen.

On the basis that there will usually be 5 or 6 family members at a home game, they two sort of merge together. I manage to tolerate my Mother despite her supporting the Forces of Darkness and even resist the temptation to have her thrown out when she sits in the Aberdeen end for Huns games.

I stick with my current part-time job because the hours are flexible enough that I can always get to the games I want to see.

I have missed 2 weeks of the last term of Uni due to supporting Aberdeen in Ukraine and Spain, so I will need to do some work to catch up. I have been known to go to games the night before an exams, but when you are a genius like me you can get away with it.

I have been known to miss Aberdeen games for other sports, football and golf, because it would involve letting other members of the team down.

A simple list,in order,concerned the following 4 things.Im not talking about particular instances where you had to juggle the list.Im talking about a normal moment in time,where you DONT need to make a choice between them.How would you list them?

Ok ill make different questions here,to make it simpler.

a)If someone held a gun against your head,and told you to pick one thing,who'd you pick - your football team or your family?

There are certain circumstances where it would beat work or education, but those are few and far between.

Thats what I'm doing.

For example when Milan-Juve game was on Saturday night, we were supposed to go for a family dinner same time when the match starts. I managed to change the time and make it earlier, I convinced everyone to go early to the restraunt. This way I also managed to arrive on time back home and watch the game.

I mean Bayern is above any other sport, and probably is on par with another team in a different sport, but I have put them above my education and work, but never my family....unless it was my aunt that no one likes anyway.

when i have to be somewhere and juve is playing, i either don't appear or make up a great excuse. i've even faked sick before to watch a juve game. when i miss a juve game because of somebody else, i'm pissed. on juve's first game on returning to serie a, i almost missed the game and i rushed home and almost killed everybody in my path, including my family. after the game i apologised though.
