Hleb would be a decent replacement for Nedved, he can play on the left or the right, he can use both feet, and he can add that much needed creativity. We really miss him at Arsenal (even if he did have one good season out of three)

Carvalho is one of the most underrated defenders in Europe, for me he is definitely one of the best in the world in his position. A Chielleni - Carvalho partnership would be out of this world.

100%. Though I don't think Carvalho is underrated, he's considered one of the best defenders since sometime now.

He is considered of the best since 2004-2005, but he is still like the most anonymous world class defender.

He is talked about when you mention half a dozen top CBs, but too many hardly mention him if you speak about the few top best. There are pet favourites like nowadays everyone mention Vidic nonstop etc. Even if he is great too, but still like others getting more attention then Carvalho, despite being around in the top for just 2 seasons.

I don't really see enough people rating him that highly. He has always been under Terry's shadow in Chelsea, even though he is the superior defender.

The only problem with Carvalho is that he is coming to an age that he may start to lose his pace, and he is quite reliant on his pace.

Time will tell if he can remain a top class defender for another few years.

Hehe, I have noticed that. Like its some huge insult, used to also say Gallas at his best was better then Terry, doesnt mean Terry isbt world class. Just that Carvalho and Gallas in his prime are superior. Such biased bitches :p

as good and dominant carvalho is, he happens to be too error prone hence why terry is rated higher
Funny you say that, since Carvalho's main purpose been to clean after Terry's mistakes, make Terry look better in an essence, hide his limitations. Just see how Terry plays without Carvalho, the difference is quite clear.

I don't know how much you watch Terry, but I just don't think he is that good.

As soon as the ball is on the ground he is uncomfortable and he looks horrific when dragged into wide areas.

He is good, but he isn't the top class defender he is made out to be.

Vidic is currently the best CB imo.

remember we dont need just a good player to replace nedved.. we need a PERFECT PLAYER like he was. Hleb is certainly veeeeery far from perfect. I would choose the current nedved over him..
we need someone like ribery.. some one who has the potential of being a legend like zidane and nedved were.

camo can be replaced with just a good cheap player.. but nedved? we need messi lol

Keep in mind, the player who replace nedved will be under shit loads of pressure and criticism .... he will be compared to nedved every day and i wouldnt be surprised if he did not keep up. Those are pretty big shoes to fill.
Nedved survived the pressure back in 2001 and filled the great zidane's shoes.
do you think hleb, kuyt, diego, capel, malouda or anyone can?
ribery is the only one that has a chance imo.. the rest will definitely under perform(in comparison to nedved) or flop.

i obviously disagree, and i actually have watched a carvalho-less chelsea and trust me it doesnt look nearly as bad as a terry-less one.
We'll have to disagree on this one (since I'm not going to try and bring out heaps of Alen-esque stats to make a point :D).

I think an Alex-Carvalho defence has looked better than an Alex-Terry one, because Terry, like Vidic, doesn't look nearly as good when he doesn't have pace playing alongside him.

Chelsea miss Terry's leadership far more than his techical defensive ability when he isn't in the team.
