What do you want? He is 18, frigging 18, its like 12 years old for goalies And he has frigging Buffon ahead of him now if he would come, warming the bench wouldnt do him any good right now. Let makes something clear, this kid is a GREAT talent, anyone who has seen theeuro U-19 can attest to that. We allways complain of not signing top talents when they are young, well, this one is Italy's finest regarding goalies, and its not just hype like the likes of Curci etc have had (they all had the rep of italian greats backing then initially, but all clearly seen to be decent/mediocre early on, this one is the opposite).
He is a quality talent. So there is NO downside to this, would you have prefered to wait til he hits it big several years from now and fight to buy him for big buck with the other top teams?
Not to compare him to Gigi, but wouldnt you have liked to have signed Gigi when he was 17-18 from Parma instead of pay record amount of dough later on?

This is no different than kidnapping, passing the kid around to various pirates, then expecting him back in better shape once you need him.
Even the Serie B club he's whored to may not play him at this age.
Keepers need that experience from smaller teams as a keeper needs to learn to make consistently good decisions. As where a youth player like gio/marchisio makes a mistake on the pitch its much less likely to result in a goal as they have 9 other field players and a goalie to cover for them. If a young keeper that lacks experience for decision making purposes could likely turn into a goal and a lost game. Although I agree with andy on not loaning field players out I think that young keepers need to be loaned out and thru experience better themselves in decision making and overall attributes. I am excited about this purchase, I feel more comfortated that in 4 years when buffon is on his way down this kid will be on the way up to step in and take over...that's if he developes properly
How does the loaning system help smaller clubs? Their players are stripped from them at an early age, bought up by bigger clubs and immediately shipped to another side. If the same club receives another talent for a year, what incentive do they have to nourish the player's long term development instead of maximizing their current potential? None. It's not like they should build team chemistry around that player only to lose him after the season is over. The reason why smaller clubs do take loans is to immediately provide them with another weapon, but it doesn't really help them that much.
It's a stupid system but the fans of the big clubs adore it because they're not being hurt by the system.
