When will people get it into their heads that it is not possible to make big changes to a squad in January.

Most teams are unwilling to do serious business mid-season.

And while Schweinsteiger would be better backup than Marchionni, he would be on muh bigger wages and probably would not be content to merely be a backup.

I am not saying completely buy a new person in every position Red....for one a decent wingback that can cross preferably a LB. A new CM that can pass...that would suffice for me. There has got to be somebody in these positions that we could table a decent offer for and have the team consider.

How old is Lichsteiner and how much will he cost? The board needs to ring in the changes this winter, and to those who oppose scheinsteiger...at least he is free and would be a much better backup than marco is for camo. Who knows we could probably sell schweiny a season or two later for a nice price if he doesnt work out. But as was mentioned a few posts back, he could probably have a change of scenery and that might suit him well.
that would be moi, the advantage of juve is turin is a tranquil city unlike madrid, milan, barcelona etc... i believe it helps players settle in quicker

im sure offering a few mill to bayern instead of risk losing for nothing will persuade bayern to sell, just like what we should of done with mellberg, yes bigger wages, but bare in mind nedved is gone next season, or at least im certain of it, not too sure what giovinco has to offer yet, and dc i see as more of a back up to molinaro or vice versa, so i think he could be a potential starter on the left side, and back up to the right.

One good signing is always possible, but some people seem to think a total revamp of a squad is possible.

Fair enough, then.

I would suggest it would be tough to get both of those in January, though, especially if you wanted folk eligible for the CL.

I agree with Juve red. In January, there won't be big business going on. Sissoko was a big exception because he just was not playing! Schweinsteiger is in Bayern's starting XI, and considering their position in the table, and their shaky games sometimes, Hoeness will surely not think about winning half a million euros and sell him now. And why would juve pay for a CL-tied player anyway. If Schweinsteiger really wanted to come over here (which i doubt) then make a pre-contract for a reasonable wage and it's a done deal. We're not some kind of welfare company and have to be nice to everybody. It's a dirty business and i see no reason whatsoever to pay bayern money. Not even for 'maintaining good relationships' because it's public that the bayern do NOT like us that much (cf salihamidzic)

Still, i stick to my persepective; you're right about the european cup, but it doesn't change the subject. Where was Schweini in the UEFA-Cup last season? Those 3 or 4 long-distance goals he delivered in the tournaments are not enough for me. Maybe he can progress, but i think we could do better.

Any infos about these 3 LB's?

Emanuelson(Ajax)
Kleber(Santos)
Papa(Velez)

Kleber once played in the bundesliga for Hannover but I can't remember how he was.He is part of the Brazilian NT nowadays. What about this midget Papa? What are his qualities?
I didn't watch Ajax for a long time, how is Emanuelson doing and does he play as a LM or LB?
Any sane coach would avoid putting this guy at LB, it's like putting Drenthe at LB or when Roma used Mancini as a RB.

I think that's the problem with these "modern" fullbacks, they're like extra wingers and defensively they leave a lot of space. Come to think of it, we're one of the few top clubs in Europe who has fullbacks that are better in defence then in attack.

I still think Zebina is a good RB and he's underrated by some on this forum. When he's fit and mentally stable he's a solid RB. As for LB I believe Grosso would be the perfect choice. He has a solid 2 or 3 years left at the highest level and during that time De Ceglie can slowly take over (if he lives up to the hype).

The big coup in defence should be Santacroce. Anyone who's seen him play should know why.

Zebina - Santacroce - Chiellini - Grosso

Looks pretty good on paper.

As for midfield, I keep switching opinions about who to get. Definately a new LM and CM.

It's quite a lot to bring in 4 new starting players, but that's the result of Secco's poor business. I really think that atleast 3 new starting players are needed for next season if we want to challenge for the Scudetto. We have the winter and summer market to get them.

No surprise.

Fred knows his Ligue, if little else. ;)
:faq1:

To those who mentioned Lichsteiner:tup:. One of the few fullbacks these days who can attack and defend well. He is probably one of Lazio's best and most consistent performers this season. I remember when he signed for Lazio, Fred was giving him props and mentioned that he was in the team of the year for Ligue 1 last season.
Yes i was, and i'm glad he proved me right. :agree:

please please please leave schweinsteiger where he is. He does have his decent games at bayern, but he's nowhere near top-class, and he'll never get to that. He's NOT international material. If you really want to point out his good performances you have to go back to the world cup, and honestly, the whole german squad performed rather well there - let's say that 'it just worked' for them.
Schweinsteiger always fails to impress when he should have. He scored some goals, but he didn't ever step up when bayern needed that extra power. Without someone like ballack (in the NT) or ribery (at bayern) at his side, he's mediocre at best.

The only thing that makes me think about that whole deal is that he's free, next year, but honestly, if we have to give him a 'flamini-like' wage to get him over to turin, then forget it. No to schweini; i think he won't shine in a foreign league, he should stay where he is; for his own good! just my 2c
100% Agree. Inter were the marginally better team, and overall desereved to win the game on the day. But the game also showed that thier is still a gap between the two teams, in terms of player personel and quality. Amauri and del piero were feeding on scraps, and had for the vast majority of the game had to make chances for themselves, such was the lack of creativiy and support from the midfield. The fullback area is also a weak in terms of quality. We should sign invest in first class defenders and midfilders in the Janaury transfer window, and if possible sign a top quality young striker.

Zapata
Rafinha
Xabi-alonso
Moutinho
Di maria
Rossi

BTW schwiensger is cack, not worth signing.
