Danny I don't even think he makes the Portugese NT.
He actually made his NT team debute few days ago, so it has been a very good week for him.

He is unknown outside of Russia, but he is one the top 3 best players in that league, and exaggerated prices like these are needed to get players from direct league title rivals and weaken them.

we will compete neck to neck with Inter only to lose it in the last 2-3 rounds and finish 2nd.

CL we will reach Quarter finals.

I fail to see to how we will compete for 3rd-4th when we finished 3rd last year with a much worse squad.

which is why we have the likes of Poulsen/Zanetti, Amauri, Giovinco and Melberg on the bench: to give us the depth we need to play 2 games a week

shouldnt both coincide if rationally deduced? do you have a source where the board openly says we re ok being 3rd-4th this season?
Not at all but based one what they did I speculate that it's their objective. And even if they had bought other players, getting 3rd or 4th and clearing the group in CL is something that'll satisfy me.

our opponents weren't watching us! Inter is even stronger, Milan is stronger and so are Roma and even Fiorentina.

Milan's season could be a gambling with a defense like that, but Ronaldinho and Sheva will definitely make them stronger in attack. I am not so confident about our defense and how we will create attacks, at this present time this is what I think, till the winter break, everything will much clearer.

Realistically we should finish 3rd or 4th.

But as you know, most of the times pre-season predictions are different from how the standings look in May.

Don't be surprised if we do a Milan and miss out on CL. That's a possibility.
But the odds for Juve to win the 5th place are equal to the odds Juve to be included in the scudetto race.

Imo, only Inter has a secured place in top3. All the others may surprise everyone and do better than expected, but they can also have a disaterous season and miss out on CL.
With Milan there are too many unknowns. With every next day they remind me of the pre-Calciopoli Inter more and more. The Coach and the directors say different things, they buy famous players they don't really need, etc. They have stars, most of them in the later stages of their careers, but they also have too many ego's. Everyone will like to play but 3 or 4 stars (or a better word for them is ex-stars) will have to stay on the bench. They can easily do a Galacticos and flop. On the oposite, they can win the scudetto if everything goes as planned.
Roma are a strange team. Apart from the last two seasons, they were very inconsistent. They finished 1st or 2nd in one season, just so they'll finish 7th or 8th next season.
This year i think they're weaker than before. They lost two very influental players, one from the starting XI and one from the bench (Mancini and Giuly) and replaced them with, imo, a certain flop in serie A, Julio Baptista. Totti's getting injured all the time and it will cost them a lot.
Fiorentina finished in top 4 for 3 seasons in a row, but due to Calciopoli only last season their 4th place got them CL football. This year they are stronger but they have too many new faces and too many unknowns. Hit or miss as Bes said.
We are in similar position. Last year we sucked hard when we played Wednesday-Sunday and we'll play twice a week much more this year. We added depth so we'd make it sure that we can survive the CL, but we're depending on 2-3 players a lot and if we lose them for a longer period we're screwed. But we extra quality footballers and with a bit of luck we can surprise everyone.

All i know is that we'll have a very interesting season.

they've added to their starting 11 and bench. We added some depth.
Let's take a look at Milan the scum just for now. The added "good" players Ronnie, Zambrotta, Sheva, and Flamini. Let's take a looks at the first 3. These 3 are on a major decline. It's not like they had a terrible season, and they can just bounce back. The have been playing awful for over 2 seasons now. Ronnie is still in bad shape, Zambrotta is old, and Sheva was atrociously bad for Chelsea, hell even in his last season at Milan you could still see he was in decline. The only good signing was Flamini. Senderos is terrible and I hope they play him, Bonera, and Dida every week, in which case they will finish in the spot they belong in: midtable.

Roma and Fiorentina are nothing to worry about. The still lack depth to compete in both Serie A and CL. Roma are chokers, and Viola have lost a few important players, and are relying on a gamble to pay off. I think the only club who is stronger than us is Inter only. but you are right, everything will be much clearer come winter break.

I really think people are overrating the sons of whores of Milan, the purple fags of Fiorentina, and the chokers of Rome.

I defenitely agree on that part
Fiorentina buy Vargas who is a good player + Gilardino who never was and never will be anything more than average and everyone just hype them as the best mercato ever

I really can`t understand how Gila is that good never saw anything special from him

Amauri is 10 times the player Gila is and I think Amauri is overated too!!!

Fiorentina are not even close to our level!!

As for Milan you never know which Milan you get
They could finish 1st if they fullfill their potential and they could finish 5th like last season if they fail to find their rhythem...

Roma are a good side but are lacking something to be a serious contenders
therefore I see Inter being the only team in the race for the scudetto!

We Juventus could be there if we buy a great defender and Giovinco becomes the player everyone expect him to be
