Let's say we don't buy any defenders and Ranieri sees the light and play Criscito CB.

Juve:
Zebina-Andrade-Criscito-Chiellini

Pros:
- Andrade's experience.
- Criscito was Serie B's best D.
- Chiellini is solid and can swap with Criscito.

Cons:
- Zebina's brain farts
- Criscito's inexperience
- Andrade's knee
- Chiellini's unability to f*ckin' cross.

----------------------
Milan:
Oddo-Nesta-Maldini-Jankulovski

Pros:

- Nesta
- leadership
- a lot of experience

Cons:

- Getting old
- Bonera's sucks ass.

--------------
Inter:
Maicon/Zanetti-Cordoba-Materazzi-Chivu

Pros:

- Zanetti
- Materazzi's immunity to yellow and red cards
- depth

Cons:
- Zanetti getting old.
- They are Inter players.
- Chivu's made of glass.

--------------
Roma:
Panucci-Mexès-Juan-Tonetto

Pros:
- Mexès getting better and better
- Panucci's leadership and experience

Cons:
- need a LB(Modesto ain't it)

----------------
Fiorentina:
Vanden Borre-Ujfalusi-Dainelli-Pasqual

Pros:
- good crossing
- experience
- leadership

Cons:
- a bit slow in the center.
- questionable defending from wing backs.

We could compete with those guys but better crossing from our wing backs and leadership would definitely raise it to the next level.

Mark, do you think Fiorentina will start Vanden Borre? And if they do, at RB? he's more reliable in the midfield, his defending is very questionable.

And why don't we sign a good RB? I mean, Zebina and Birindelli...

Yeah they could play him at RM and put back Ujfalusi at RB and use Gamberini at CB.

On a new RB I agree but Ranieri, Secco, Blanc and Cobolli say our mercato is closed. Ranieri looked very convincing saying it twice today.

I'd go for Alves, Miguel, Rafinha and even good old Sagnol who's gonna play less and less because of Lahm and Jansen.

replace zebina with grygera , brazzo or anyone and we would look better .
The problem with criscito is that he may not be up to the challenge , he's too young and inexperienced , it's a big gamble to depend on him . Chiellini might fill in his place , but then that leaves a gap in the left back position , i don't think molinaro or criscito are as good as chiellini in the LB position .

so basically , no matter what we do or how we change our squad we're always going to have a gap , i think we should find another player simply because we can't afford taking needless risks at this point .

we need to qualify for the champions league next year , and with out a good enough defense we might not even qualify for the european cup . I think we desperately need another CB , our defense has never been our weakest point untill now , so instead of making our midfield or attack stronger , we should focus on making our defense decent enough .

Im not expecting miracles , especially because most of our defenders are new and it's understandable they need time to get into form . I am expecting a defense that doesn't make stupid errors that could cost us more than we could afford . A solid defense with a good leader will be enough .

Sacchi not impressed with our signings he said we should have signed less players and better ones

Actually I agree with him Quaresma is the unvield Cristiano Ronaldo and we should sign him as fast as we can just look at his videos on youtube

If Man Utd would buy him they would be fucking scary with Ronaldo on the right and Quaresma on the left

I agree with Sacchi:we should have made a maximum of 4 quality signings this summer - one good CD: one good midfielder: one replacement for Neddy and one other and we should not have let go Balza, Marchisio, Giovinco etc. They were our future.

That is easy to say but we needed a lot of new players. This meant that with the budget we had, we could not afford to sign huge names.

why not
instead of all of those we have signed
lets say not buying Iaquinta and not buying Tiago would allow us buying Quaresma and save some $
a defender we barely need now and we can buy one with the $ we could have saved like Heinze maybe even in a swap deal or get Cannavaro or someone else on a high level

about the sub striker we could have kept Miccoli and use him with Palladino or just loan someone like Rossi but it is too late now for him

they are the transfers gurus if I can think of that I expect more from them

If we had done that we would have had a team, half of whom would have been awesome and half not good enough for serie A. We are better with what we have done by generally strengthening several positions rather than only one or two.

:agree:
We sold six starters, we definately needed more then very two good signings to make up for that.
Now we can challenge for cl, with 2 great signings (if that was even possible), we might have been able to challenge for the Uefa cup at most.
Also, now we are covered for injuries in every line, with only 2 great signings, injuries would have meant big problems.

who is a better striker? Huntelaar said he wants to stay at Ajax. Viola was not going to sell us Toni. Eto'o? impossible. Henry? impossible. Villa? Impossible.

Maybe Bianchi and Quagliarella (is that how you say his name?) but then how do we know they would have accepted a bench/rotation only role a year before euro 08? and Iaquinta is not bad, we just overpaid for him.

and how do you know Quaresma would join us? If he availabe for sale you bet your ass other clubs would jump to get him before us and both you and I know that other big clubs being interested means Porto will inflate his price. Not mention the wages we would have to pay which other clubs can beat us in that area too. You also have to consider if the player wants to join us or not. So It's easy to say we should have gotten player A instead of player B but in reality the process and details of such transactions is alot more complicated

:agree: we needed to rebuild a whole squad, so big-name signings were always going to be very unlikely...and Iaquinta is a very good forward considering other options...

What makes Iaquinta a good forward exactly? To me he's a very mediocre player, a decent rotation guy at best. He may be good enough to start for Udinese and Lippi was able to find a use for him on the national team but I would have preferred Quagliarella 100%.
