Alonso is pretty good as a defensive midfielder too.He's not a destroyer like Gattuso,but he can do his job very well.Plus he can create,and he's great from set pieces.If there was any chance of signing him over Sissoko,id love for him to sign for us.

I don't see a defect in partnering Xabi Alonso to Zanetti or to another classy defensive midfielder. Alonso is a hard working midfielder and a decent passer, yet his only downside is being a bit slow. Most of the good passers are slow actually, that style of play suits the Calcio more than the English football though.

I'd welcome Xabi Alonso in Juventus, without a doubt.

I love the word "create". It is such a non-sensical scape goat. I like Alonso, but we need a defensive midfielder next to him. I think people mistake the serie a for the Eredevise. I don't know about you, but Alonso and Maresca in central midfield scares the crap out of me. And Heinze... maybe on the side but NOT as a CB. Scarry scarry.

What is the deal with us not going after Alou Diarra? The guy is a beast and is for sale. He would give us great height in the box on set pieces and is a smart player who is ready for a big team. I just don't get this at all. He is way better that Sissoko or Mavuba. Is there a dramatic price difference or something?

Isn't this lineup a bit to attacking?
It isn't the strongest defence so playing without one DM is like shooting yourself, I prefer to see Zanetti or Mavuba instead of Neddie there, and then use Nedved in a rotation role with DP.

All the players you mentioned aren't a dream, except Alonso whom I can say that he is a difficult signing, still it is realistic.

Quite frankly with such a lineup we'll be lucky to end the season in the 7th place. Simply, because we'll concede at least 2 goals per match.
