Probably. We certainly won't offer Gallas the 5m a year he's earning in Arsenal, while teams with defensive problems, like Real or Milan, may be willing to pay 4m or 5m a year.
I agree that his wage demands may be a stumbling block but the media makes us look like we're Sampdoria or Lazio and we can't pay more than 1m for wages.

We can easily pay Gallas 3m or 3.5m eur and if Milan or Real won't do some stupidity and offer him 4m or 5m, then we will get Gallas.
Gallas is a greedy bastard, believe me, he'd much rather stay with us despite all the problems than go to another team that will pay him less.

I never thought anything of van der Meyde. Always overrated.

I wouldn't compare him to Eboue whatsoever.
I would, you know why? Because they are both crap.
Eboué had his chances and he messed many of them up, he has no sense of tactics and is often extremely stupid by getting unnecassary bookings/sending offs.
I for one would rather have a more sensible grygera

A lot depends on when will his contract with Arsenal expire. If it's after a year or even two, he may find himself in situation when after that year or two teams won't offer him even 2m.
If that's so maybe it's smarter if he signs a 4 year deal now, worth 3/3.5m euro.

Please make a difference between Eboue the winger, and Eboue the fullback.

He has his limitations, but not his fault he is played out of place, Wenger had the gaul to play play him not only in the wing, but in the left side of it in the last game, which is even way more out of place for him.

Eboue is annoying, but he is DOUBTLESSLY better then Grygera, who is not good enough either defensively or offensively (defense supposes to be his strenght, but too few realize he cant hack it enough there either). Eboue is way way better offensively, and is decent enough defensively.

I have to say I agree with that. But with Gallas and Eboue on the same team we reach our limit of prickness pretty quickly.
true, that is why I would go for just one of both, and thenI prefer Eboue, asusmng he would be used as RB, not on any other position.

Wow I was a bit harsh but I don't see him in a "big" club. We need some fullbacks and he can't really play there. As a winger he's better but still inconsistent and some better and younger options would be available before him.
His best position would be a right wingback. I can see him as a fullback though. Defensively he isn't incompetent like for example Pranjic and attackingly he would offer a lot. He isn't too incosistant either, maybe sometimes for Shaktar he is but he is still one of their best players, he is even Shaktar's captain, that speaks volumes IMO. For Croatia he is very consistant in fact, always one of our best players (especially in big tournaments, against strong opposition he shines a lot), he scores and assist a lot ( 17 goals for Croatia, not bad for his position, huh?? ;) ). He also has a great freekick and dare I say, he would be the best crosser in our team. At the age of 26, he should have his best years ahead of him and is mature, experienced and he wouldn't have to be replaced for a long time. Definitely much better option than Zebina and Grygera. He wouldn't be very expensive either. I think he would be a good signing.

I have to say I agree, Eboue is better than Grygera. The player is still fairly young and very athletic, so perhaps a change of scenery is in order for him. From what I remember his Champions League performances were just stellar a few years ago when Arsenal went all the way, so perhaps he could thrive in Italy where the pace a little slower and he can exploit people on the wings. The only thing I'd be worried about is his marking.

Ranieri rejects Diego bid
Tuesday 9 December, 2008

A possible move for Werder Bremen midfielder Diego seems to have split the Juventus camp in half.

The Old Lady are expected to strengthen their squad in the New Year to help their Scudetto push.

Brazilian international Diego has long been a target and there have even been discussions between the player's agent and father and Juve officials.

However, it seems that Juventus boss Claudio Ranieri isn't so convinced that Diego would be a good signing.

According to Tuttosport, Ranieri has argued with Juve directors because he doesn't think Diego would fit his 4-4-2 system.

“Diego is a great talent, but he is a trequartista,” Ranieri explained.

“We would have to change our system to fit him in and one of our wingers would have to be benched.

“In the end I would rather stick with the men that we have, even if we need some back-up.”

OHHHH NOOOOO! We can't bench the lame duck Marchionni and the 37 year-old Nedved. Good job Ranieri.
