nope, i said that they wanted to live in the independent countries and USSR didn't gave'em this chance but it was impossible to do it back in 1945, Stalin knew that if he will give you freedom then sooner or later western army will be near our borderline, this was unacceptable in that period of time, but let's go further - back in 1977 KPSS introduced new constitution which gave any country of USSR right on secession - and you never used it until 90s, but even then, it was Gorbachev's gossovet decision to gave you independency, but this organ was illegitimate because it didn't existed under the constitution of USSR so decision to gave you freedom was not legal at all, but who cares...

There is no single reason as to why you lose a war, but the m16 performed very poorly. To the point where we have a couple of eye witness reports as to how American soldiers were fighting and/or killing eachother so they could pick up the AK's from dead Vietcong.
