wonder why they don't simply make champions league a... well... league... you know? no 8 groups separation no knock outs phase, just make it a league...? true that the burden on the clubs and players would be insane... but it's a possibility.
Because thats a shit idea. You should be able to figure out why.

Just a note: Analyzing the latest Juventus financial statements, I calculated current OCF at ~80MM, and when you consider net working capital (instalment payments due in 1 year), you get an outflow of -35MM, which brings you to operating cash-flow available at ~45MM. Let's assume that because of the UCL revenue different less revenue increases YoY, there is 10MM less in OCF in the next 12 months. That brings you to 35MM in OCF. Also, there is 40MM in cash on the balance sheet.

The thing that this 35MM doesn't consider is the Coman, and Morata potential sales. Those are options, and clauses so this isn't going to be included in working capital. That is potentially a 58MM increase in OCF in the next 12 months.

That means potential OCF of 93MM + Cash of 40MM. That is certainly enough cash to conduct a good mercato, especially when considering Beppe's deals won't involve immediate cash outlays.

Excellent analysis. Although at first glance it seems like a decent amount of money it's going to be interesting to see what that gets you in this market. We could definitely afford a great midfielder and add quality depth without selling our other top players (I'm assuming Morata and Coman will be sold). Maybe even Cavani and one of Pjanic or Gomes?

Everybody is out to fleece the EPL on transfers now, and they should. And yet the quality they are getting in return is not at all measuring up. There's something sickly about all that.

Yup, Italians are falling behind. Doesn't come as a surprise with all those shit stadiums and everything else.

If it wasn't for Juve, Serie A would be just a shithole.

It's officially announced already.
The DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga generated a record result in the tender of national media rights and has exceeded for the first time the threshold of, on average, one billion Euro per season. A total amount for the four seasons from 2017/2018 to 2020/21 of 4.64 billion Euro means an average of 1.16 billion Euro per season.

I'd expect the next Serie A deal to surpass that figure. The current deal expires in 2018 and by then we might see the rise of Milanese clubs, Inter with their new owner and I assume Milan will be in this position as well.

In any case with their current method of distribution top German clubs will still earn less than their Italian counterparts.

Spain, England and Germany have signed new TV deal's in 15/16. Temporarily Italy will be number 4 behind all of them in the TV ranking, after being number 2 for the whole of the 21st century as far as i know. However, Italy will have the opportunity to strike back in 2017, when the next TV deal for 18-21 will be negotiated and signed. Only after that deal we will see on whether Italy/SA lost it's power in the one area that kept them alive. Italy needs 1.8 billion overall in order to take the second spot back from Spain. It will all come down to international rights, so hopefully Inter and possibly Milan becoming chinese-owned will open up the chinese market in a big way for Serie A.
