I didn't choose management because, really I wan't sure if I'd be that good at it. For all the training you get you still need to have certain personality for the job, not sure I have that. Its always open in future though.

If you have to choose between those three I'sd have thought business management would give you the most options, is that the case?

I think I'm starting on September the 1st, dependant on me getting the grades they asked for and getting good references. I bullied them into providing nice references so that shouldn't be a problem. Provided I get the grades its early September. I'm actually quite keen to start, finally my money problems will be over, and then I can buy a car, and go out at least three times a week, and..oh the possibilities!

    Ok see you around!
I hope you find a nice (and, above all, well-payed) job soon! You'll love it! Regular hours and when you come home, there's absolutely nothing you HAVE to do - no homework, no exams, no nothing! That were the things I liked best about all of my workplacements.

Business management is the widest option, yes. But I probably won't choose that. I studied international trade before I went to this uni and the management thing is not really for me. I'll probably choose communication - which is my strongpoint!

Torkel - seriously? You play the guitar? I used to play that too! Until about five years ago when I gave it up (lack of time). I was quite good but I after not touching it for several years, I found out that it's nothing like cycling (that you never forget how to do) and I can't even play the easiest songs anymore!

I already found a nice job (well from what I've seen of it so far) and it will eventually be well paid, though at the start its pretty low (they have to pay about £20,000 per trainee for the teaching) 4 years of exams though, but if and when I'm fully qualified it will be great. Coming home every day with nothing to do but relax and go out!

Communication, well you definitely need that to be a manager anyway, thats probably why I wouldn't be so good at it, you need a loud mouth which i don't really have unless I'm pissed or pissed off :D

They have to spend 20,000 quid on you? Woh :undecide:
So what kind of company will you be working for? Perhaps you've already told me but I don't recall...!

That's what I feared - but it mainly focuses on 'intercultural communication'. You learn about how to communicate in other cultures (verbally and non-verbally) and things like that.

here you are, I'll give you the website if you want, its not a large firm, basically the first step, I can get trained up and get experience at a medium size form like this one, which is growing each year btw, and if I have higher aims, I can always apply for a position in one of the giant, global firms but that'd be a long way off if ever.

    www.batesweston.co.uk

communication in other cultures :stress: I think i'd be a bit pants at that. Good luck, it helps of course that you can speak a few languages already, but well it sonds a bit hard.

Actually, that looks really, really nice! Much better than the dump I did my workplacement. That company's called 'Audnel' (transportation company) and it's situated in Syston (near Leicester, perhaps you know). www.audnel.co.uk

Just popped into my head - I did this interview with the manager of PriceWaterhouseCoopers a while ago. It's this large accountancy company that has offices all over the globe. Maybe when the opportunity comes up in the future, you could check it out. Just thought I'd give you the name, you never know!

It is - but life was never meant to be easy ;)

PWC is certainly one of the big ones. I was reliably informed they only took on graduates though, besides its not a place to start IMO. You had an interview there? I didn't realise you would go for a job like that.

So thats where you worked! Which part of the operation were you involved with?

Oh nono, not a job interview, a regular interview for a magazine.

The interview was a disaster btw - so I never did one again :D Oh, the jobs I've had!

I worked at the distribution department so my job was all about logistics. Sending trucks everywhere in Europe, making sure that they were always as full as possible etc.

Naturally, every day had it's problems. Traffic jams, accidents, you name it!

It was a nice job, but as a trainee, you don't get a lot of responsibilities so I was more of an assistant.
Plus, I was only there four months of course! That doesn't leave much time to grow and move up the ladder.

disaster? why? what did you do?:D

aah, logistics, well it doesn't sound too bad, at least not compared to my awful work experience a few years ago, incidentally the only form of work I've ever done, lasted all of one week :howler:

but it was the worst week of my life :lazy:

Yeah, workplacements can be tough on ya. I remember my first one as well - completely screwed up and got sacked :D

As for the interview - I came in well prepared and everything but the guy was a genuine jackarse so it was utter torture :stress:

well mine was only work experience, I tried but ultimately failed to get sacked :groan:

5 days of lifting boxes and working with the fattest, smelliest, ugliest, lesser intelligent life forms and getting paid jack for doing all their work for them. Arse!

aah, a jackass, fair enough, too many of them around these days ;)
