Why do all part-time jobs suck so much? I've worked in a range of places ever since 10th grade; KFC, Blockbuster, a dry cleaners, and Radioshack. They all pay you pebbles and they treat you like crap.

Back in High School, it was 'ok' because all you needed was allowance money basically. To buy things like shoes, clothes, mp3 players, etc. In College though, you have other shit to worry about. Things like cell phones bills, gas, car repairs, books, debts, loans, etc. etc.

With all this crap to pay for, I can never seem to save up any money. I finally got a job that pays really really well and I'm 80% sure I'm going to lose it.

Summers go by and I get to save zilch! Is this curse just on me?

Also, do any of you know of high paying part-time jobs?

The only high paying part time jobs are the ones where you need to specialize in something, whether it be from a college education or like a technical education where you're trained. It's either that or construction, which sometimes pays $12 an hour. Not that much but better than $8.

I should have said 'summer job' instead of 'part-time'.

I turned down an internship with the FAA because I found a higher paying job. The FAA wanted me to go to Arizona for 2.5 months for $2500 while I could have made the same amount in 1.5 here. Plus, they wanted me to pay for my own food and transportation while there. Living at home (with my folks) and getting that better paying job seemed like the better option.

I got paid pretty well when I worked for a firm of lawyers last summer.

I only get about £6 an hour for the bar work I do though.

    Yea, life sucks...doesn't it? :D

@Martin: In a nutshell: I took time off for religious purposes and for volunteer work. The bosses daughter told her dad I'm inconsistent. He wants to fire me, I'll find out on Friday.

hes basically looking for a replacement, i recommend heavily lying on your resume and using your skin color to land some 50$ an hour IT job.

Does he have any experience in the field?
a few gigs as a field technician, not really related. but that's the beauty of coop, as long as you can get an interview and practice and do well, you should be able to start somewhere. i had no experience whatsoever and did i mention i got the job that i only applied after he kept repeating how much he liked the job descripton :faq1:

thing is, most companies looked at my resume and didnt put it in the interview pile, but this one has a habit of interviewing everyone, so yes, luck is a part of it
