Exactly, but those are reasons. Fighting against an imperialist force or fighting to be independent is a reason. Fighting for your religion is never the true reason. Bin Laden gives shit about the Islam.
Like Sally above, I'd argue that there's nearly always another reason at the same time.

Also, mikhail, I consider suicide bombers retards. Whatever cause they might have. If you consider that a personal attack towards sallyinzaghi, who I do not think of as a suicide bomber, you can ban me all you want.
I don't care what you think of them, just don't put it like that - it's just inflammatory, and we don't need any of that in a thread like this.

God, especially in the First ... (what is it again in English?)
Old Testament. (There's a wonderful expression in English - to go "Old Testament on your ass", meaning to wreck great wrathful vengeance on you.)

I agree there's always another reason. Only, that other reason is the only reason. Religion is used as an excuse as a cover to hide the true, mostly less popular, reason. Religion and economics have become intertwined in big parts of the Middle East. I'd say that's also because religion attracts people. They'd like to do for a holy cause. Bin Laden might not believe it, but he makes sure his followers do. And that's why religion is dangerous.

The expression says it all really.

As for Jesus, he did fight in the temple didn't he? And they did use those lines to justify the crusades, didn't they?

Jahwe killed Eyptians. He killed babies, he killed the pharaoh, he killed soldiers. He made children and women starve.

And you people are telling me no religion condones violence?

We're not even talking about the obvious personal interests of Mohammed and Jesus. In a way you could say religion was a scam even when it started. Odds are fairly big Jesus was nothing but an ordinary gang leader, who did fight btw.

Let's just think this through for a minute. Why would Romans, who generally didn't care so much about the religion in the areas they conquered or were even converted themselves, so concerned with this Jesus fellow? Could it have anything to do with the fact he was stirring things up? Creating trouble? Creating a rather violent climate?

The problem is that there are so many idiots that breed too many other idiots here in the middle east .They just want a cause or someone to follow . What's dangerous is that all these leaders have to do is repeat themselves again and again , and they don't even have to be convinced with it . When they continually reiterate something so many times people will start to believe him and that is what i find dangerous .

I know these suicide bombers have their own desperate conditions but going to
kill ten other people in the name of god is inexcusable no matter what the reason . They are brainwashed from youth by leaders like bin laden etc ..
There are desperate conditions all over the world yet the only place where suicide bombers are present is coincidentally in one of the most religiously extreme parts of the world .
