I dont completely agree with you Dai, when you say they are slow as fuck. Sure they are not fast, but wouldnt say they are that slow. Boateng is way faster than both though, but they (Martinez, Hummels) are beasts in the air so its different kind of CBs.

The point is, Allegri had better teams than Conte. Conte won us Scudetti with non-world class players like Pepe, Matri, Vučinić, Quagliarella, Giovinco, Peluso, Padoin, Giaccherini, Krasić, Ogbonna, De Ceglie, Borriello, Caceres and so on...

The players you named were mostly bit-part players under Conte and the ones that weren't like Vucinic were very good players. Your point is as valid as me saying Allegri is the better coach because he won the Scudetti and went to the CL final with the likes of De Ceglie, Romulo, Pepe, Padoin, Sturaro, Marrone, Matri and Llorente.

Don't think I was implying anything else although the team Allegri took to the CL final was largely the same as Conte's. Just pointing out that it's not a good argument to name a punch of players that for the most part were bit part players.

we had a different and better Pirlo and Vidal under Conte, especially the 1st 2 seasons, Marchisio was a different (not necessarily better) player too. under Allegri Licht regressed, Asa was destroyed by injuries, Llorente was great with Conte and awful with Allegri, Barza didnt look like his usual flawless and injury free self either etc. Max has/had a better Bonucci and Pogba though. point is, most players were the same only by names, but the level they were on changed for the time these 2 were here. whats important is, we had the clearly best squad in the league in 5 of the last 6 seasons, and won the title each time, so they both did their job in the league (Max in the Coppa too). the difference is, Allegri did more with us (and Milan) in Europe, which gives him the edge in whos better so far

If we are going by results and "grinta" instilled in his squads, then surely Simeone (with a more limited budget and far superior record in European competitions) is better than him.

There's a difference between comparing achievements and current abilities as a coach

Even based on current ability, that's a ridiculously bold statement. He still has a lot to learn, and is still as stubborn as a mule. I admire his passion and dedication, but he's not the best in terms of reading match situations and tactics. Even his player selection and substitutions leave a lot to be desired at times.

Ancellotti would be the best (for us now at least) in my opinion. Sure we have never seen him take on a completely broken and thin squad and transform it into a winning machine the way Conte did with us, Italy and apparently with Chelsea too but that is because his stature as a top level coach has been established for a long time and he has no reason to take charge of broken teams. His stature has outgrown these kind of jobs.

Conte is still at the start of his career and is doing a stellar job but there is still no guarantee that once he has a top level squad he will deliver the Champions League the way Ancellotti did 3 times already. It could very well be that Conte is better at building a winning culture from rubble (something we will never find out whether Ancellotti is good at or not) but Ancellotti is clearly a master of harvesting a winning culture.

If I can pick which of them gets to coach Juve (a now top level team), I would definitely go with Ancellotti as probably the safest bet. I wouldnt risk it on Conte because we are no longer a broken team and I wouldnt experiment with him if Ancelotti is available.


So basically if Juve suffers a complete magical collapse, I would definitely hire Conte over anyone else to fix the team. But now that we are a top team already, Ancellotti is definitely the safest bet to get results.

Allegri is somewhere in between. I wouldnt hire him if I had a broken team if I can have Conte, and I wouldn't hire him for a top functioning team if I can have Ancellotti.

Allegri has the chance now with us to prove he can be like Ancellotti at top teams, and if he goes to Arsenal, he will have the chance of proving that he can turn a broken team into a winning machine. He is somewhat unlucky to have never had to turn a broken team into a winning machine nor have a truly world class squad (before this season) to take a serious shot at the CL. He always got well functioning teams that can have some sort of impact in Europe (his Milan had players that were super experienced in winning in CL) but not good enough to match the squads of Bayern, Barca and Madrid. His Juve squad today has more serious shot ofc but still slightly short of the best squads.

I dont know.. Ancelotti has his history behind them but also never won anything with us despite having Zidane in his team... Football has changed and I think it suits Ancelotti`s tactics better now
Ancelotti in terms of reason is the safest bet but its hard to forget about his years here - failing to win at Juve is not something that is easy to forget... (would take him but not sure if on Conte`s expense)

Simoene is definitely one of the best but so is Conte
Who is better is more about team`s style - If you want an attacking brand of football Conte is the better choice. If you want a defensive wall - Simoene is the better choice
In terms of records - yes Simoene is amazing at Atl Madrid but you need to give Conte lots of credit at taking a team that finished 7th and were mentally broken and fix them and win despite not having the best team
Also Euro 16 Italy played great and amazed Spain despite having a weak Italy (in terms of players quality)..
