My aunt is living in AD for decades and she's living like a queen. I'll never ever live like a slave in any country of the world. I believe it depends on the individual himself. I've no idea what happened to you there to think likewise but all I hear is words of envy to be honest.
The whole mentality is BS. The people are BS. They are fake and it is so materialistic. You can tell who's two-faced and who's not. They laugh at art and have no respect for music at all. Obviously not everyone is a douche but from the people that I've grown up with in Dubai, they would rather leave the place then live there. If there's any Emirati that has my respect, it's Jalal Thaneya and I don't even think you've even heard of him.

And let's not forget the racism against the Indians/Pakistanis here. It's almost a normal thing to make fun of them. Disgusting.

Will you even listen to yourself ? What racism are you talking about ? We are a multinnational country, i've lived and learned with Indians eversince i was in school and i have Indian friends now bl 3aks we respect them so much, if it werent for them we wouldnt have even built this tower or any other thing in this country.

If you dont know what youre talking about then you should just keep a lid on it.Seriously man.

Oh and one more thing , everyone wants to live in the UAE because it is amazing in every way and inshallah it will always be.

 Come on, I grew up in the U.A.E so I know the mentality. We see it everyday, stop denying it. We know about the human rights issue here and we also know about the suicide rates. Indian/Pakistani workers are treated like slaves here and what's worse, they are now our servants in bathrooms like MOTE or Festival City. Like I said, money is being thrown around like peanuts. Asma I understand you to be a local ? I'm sure U.A.E is a great place to live for the later years when people have money but for others, I don't think so.

Oh and one other thing. Until people other than Emiratis have passports and are citizens of the U.A.E, it is not considered a multi-national or in this case cosmopolitan country at all.

Yes. That is a nice one too. I like the new ideas in her album songs. Not all about the usual boring "I love you".

Not everyone wants to live there to be exact. I visited it for a week in 2006, and did not like it at all.

I understand your frustration about certain things. But, bro, try not to generalize when you describe a whole country!

I don't know Jalal Thaneya but I'm sure there a lot of people just like him, as you said, not everyone is a douche. Usually, people like to point out negative behavior but forget all about all the positive things that happened/still happening to them. UAE is a country that gave a lot of opportunities to foreigners to have great careers especially Indians/Pakistanis. So, racism is not a word you can use to describe this country.

Plus, Laughing at art and having no respect for music doesn't mean people are BS! :sergio:

    :agree:

I like how Elissa studies the album carefully unlike every other young female singer in Lebanon (except Najwa Karam of course, is she young? :D)

You are correct, racism is the wrong word I'm afraid, but it is stereotypical I'll give you that. And trust me, there is a LOT of it.

"Laughing at art and having no respect for music" is more than enough for me. People who don't have that mindset as I do and what's worse, insult it are people I don't affiliate myself with.

That's right, you rest your case because you can't answer for it. And I am living somewhere else, so we're far beyond that. ;)

Edit: No disrespect intended of course Asma. Like I said, I have great respect for the ruler of Dubai but it is a young city after all. Perhaps that's why I am annoyed with it.

Right. So, spending huge money on useless paintings and music records is okay with you while spending it on buildings used for housing like "Burj Khalifa" is disgusting?

Spending money ? One, I never mentioned "spending money", the only money I said that could be worth spending on is sending it to third world countries which was a couple of posts back so I don't know why you're bringing this argument up now. Two, stop putting words into my mouth, people in this forum have a habit of doing it. Read my posts again, I said the fireworks are a waste of money. Three, I have come to another conclusion that the problem lies with the Arab mentality of providing no education to Art schools nor Music schools. I can only think of Lebanon when it comes down to that. It's understandable, why would you guys need Art or Music if you have all this money floating around.

And last of all things, "spending huge money on useless paintings and music records". What the hell are you talking about ?

I wake up every morning searching for oil in my backyard. You're embarrassingly envious!

My post was only a question. I didn't put words into your mouth! But, thanks, I got your answer anyway.

You seem obsessed with art. Me too, I usually spend my free time laughing at art. I guess I'm a douche with an oil well in his backyard.

Again, you didn't get the point. You seem to be adding random comments in every post you write. I am not talking about your backyard...:sergio: We are talking about the UAE government, stay on topic.

Yes, I am obsessed with Art, Khalid. And since you are speaking with such an open mind, then I will too and we will end this conversation once and for all. Art is something the Khaleejis will never understand save for a few until they open education institutes for it like they have around the world. Have a good day, sir.

I think I got your point from the very first post. I'm just shocked how you call people BS and douches simply because they don't share your interests.

Good day to you too, art boy.

Let me rephrase that so you can get my point more clearly because I get the feeling you think I'm some sort of racist. To think I call anyone a douche because they don't serve my interest is quite stupid. I don't care if they don't share my interest but to insult it, yes, they are douches in my book. Just like anyone that insults my Juve is a douche in my book. Why do you think I brought my argument up ? So I can be a racist ? Come on.
