Started but playing as if he still had fever
We sure seem to be trying really hard to get him involved and find him space although he has shown very little(even if under Tudor he actually looked in slightly better shape at times compared to before)…

All i hope is that we don’t force it, seeing that we ain’t planning to sell yet then i’m all for trying to revitalize him in this start of the season, but if a month or two goes by where he continues to put in mediocre performances then i think it’s time to just accept our loss and move on by doing what is better for the team, which is to change his status from a potential starter to a rarely used depth player and just give more chances to someone else.

being unable to make simple passes has nothing to do with the formation though.
I felt the bigger issue was that all he was doing was making simple passes and taking the easy option all last season, despite playing in the final third where his supposed creativity was meant to show.
If he continues to move as slowly and little as he has since his move here, then he’s not salvageable anywhere on the field.

And on top if it all what has been the most frustrating about him is his shooting ability that has been a huge letdown, more precisely majority of his shots from in and outside the box that we were counting on him finishing them have almost always ended up in the stands, some of which have been even embarrassing at times due to how good of a chance he wasted, same as with his clumsiness all over the pitch despite showing that he can find the right spaces and free himself for a shot or pass, but his delivery has been mediocre at best.

Koop is in the best position to have a bounce back season imo. In Atalanta he played in a 3421, so he should be more comfortable in whatever role he plays (he played both DM and AM in his last season) and supposedly showed up in good shape this year. He was one of the best mids in serie A, even experienced players sometimes need time to adjust to a new environment, hopefully that’s the case here.

Exactly.
Also noticed he raises his arms to call for the ball when he is like 30-40 yards away. Well if you yourself aren’t doing those passes why is he expecting others to do so??? Smh.

love how tuttosport are trying their best to relaunch the trust in koopmeiners. i do hope he gets his shit together. 3-4-2-1 is basically gasp's formation, let's hope it will be more comfortable for him too. having to rely on only loca and thuram for a whole season would mean a terribly thin midfield, we need an in form koopmeiners very badly.

It will take way more than a good game in a preseason friendly for him to regain his form and confidence, or for us to trust in his qualities again, but i guess thus far under Tudor he’s showing slightly better signs, still long to go though.

yeah and in the end he will still be behind McKennie and Miretti in the pecking order
Not necessarily, but surely behind Thuram and Locatelli for the CM/CDM role, and then for the CAM/SS type role he is also well behind Yildiz and Conceicao, everything else is debatable.
