no player was going to shine in motta system when team barely moved. all moves where back passes and players static. even pirlo would struggle to do anything in motta and tudor systems.
That is a valid argument as well, i mean clearly we haven’t been able neither to make the most of Koop’s qualities nor to find his best position in our system… but then again truth is that Koop himself didn’t so himself any favors either by being in poor physical shape throughout the season and looking out of his depth here, basically him not being able to even do the basics right in most games is the most worrisome part.

All a moot point. Given what we paid for him, there is no way he is going to be sold. We just have to hope that he gets to his form from the previous season in Tudor's set up. I think he played his best football in a midfield 3 though and we don't play that system so he either has to be in the mid 2 or play as one of the 2 roaming 10s. So we might struggle to get the best out of him.

We should just get Gasperini when he is available. I can see he will finalmente at Roma and retire there with Gasperini for years to come

We will probably sell him for his book value next season and watch Gasperini doing alakazam on him

Seen that a million times before, the guy ran across him and just caught his trailing foot.
Looks to me like he tripped by himself… but anyway, it’s no coincidence it happens to him because we’ve seen similar clumsiness from him in almost every game, just like majority of his shots that resemble a rugby conversion kick, guy is a wreck mentally.

After he has another terrible season, he will be another extremely difficult player to get rid of and sell permanently. He looks overweight, slow, cumbersome and clumsy. Completely busted flush.
He’ll be completed freed by playing a deeper role now and will unlock locatelli too - two major new signings

We fucked up by Transfermarkt. We got punished by FIGC because they punish us for Plusvalenza and based the value from Transfermarkt.

We bought Koop €58m because his value peak top €55m on 2024 by them. And now his value only €35m by Transfermarkt

but you know how transfermarkt values are calculated, right? i see no issue there after such a season. he was only valued at 55m because of the europa league exposure anyway. atalanta made a great deal, we overpaid for a ~25-30m player, everyone knew that. now that he's barely an athlete with a higher salary, he's barely worth 20m

I wouldn’t even pay 10M for him. I kept hearing how great he is at set pieces like he’s the new Mihajlovic or something. Turns out he’s a fraud in that area as well. A completely worthless player who can’t even run.

Koopmeiners is and should be a much better player than he showed with us last season. He was rated amongst the best midfielders in Serie A in the previous season with Atalanta.

When playing under Gasperini he played within a midfield 3. He never played that role under Motta or Tudor. He was played in almost every position except that. Either played as a trequartista or played on the left or right. He is also perhaps not best used in a midfield 2 either - if that is the case I can see why Tudor would rather opt with Locatelli-Thuram as the 2.

The trouble is, if you use him as a trequartista in a 4231, then Yildiz is played out of position on the left (Yildiz plays best more centrally as a second striker). If you play him in the 3421, he is either playing in the midfield 2 or playing in Conceicao's position who is much better in that role. Tudor won't play a 352 like Gasperini did.

I know he is a much better than what he showed but I fear that the environment is for whatever reason not allowing him to get back to his full potential. I hope that Tudor can somehow get the best out of him without sacrificing other players' strengths in the process.

being unable to make simple passes has nothing to do with the formation though.
But he is #2 in total key passes for our club last season. Look the numbers is fact, but your opinion is merely just your eye test.
So this is contradictional, how can someone that unable to make simple passes become #2 highest player in total of key passes for us last season. But, I can agree with you that he isnt what we looking for compare to his Atalanta days, we know what he can do, but he nowhere near that

Atalanta played in 3-4-1-2/3-4-2-1 formations, so mostly he is one of the AM there, and eventough they play with 3-4-1-2, their strikers mostly not pure striker, but forward for example Lookman

And look at CDK numbers before he join Atalanta with Milan, he played in 40 matches (total of 1481 minutes), mostly as a subs or starter then being subs at 60/70mins, he only got 0 goal and 1 assists all that season. Then when he join Atalanta, his numbers explode > 14 goals 11 assists (his first year loan + opt/obligation) 25 goals contribution in total, then 13 goals 13 assists in his 2nd year (last season) 26 goals contribution in total. How can he change so drastically, maybe he play without burden, no pressure, maybe continuity of play, feel happy, use at his best ability or he got detail instruction what he need to do on the field, something that he never got in Milan

And why this case is similar with Koop, because Koop is the antithesis, he lost touch, look clueless most of the time, and maybe he think why so easy at Atalanta but so hard here, while thinking this club should have better players at disposal
