If this was multiple league winning JJ, it would've been a different story but this is a bruised, battered, crippled version of JJ that is still in a rebuilding phase and will likely be competing for top 4 as a primary objective this season. Yes, Koop is productive player but for €60m player CM, risk is very big. Motta and Giuntoli are definitely know what the team need for their system but i see us still lacking for CM that good in final third. Have a good control of the ball, compose, creative and have eye for the goal or assists like Barella, Odegaard, F. Ruiz or a box to box like Valverde

If we compare it with Inter as benchmark because they won the league last season. We can compare Douglas Luiz will play in Calhanoglu role. Kephren Thuram as DM, but we dont have player like Barella

Based on a year stats Koop is not that exceptional in terms of attacking metric, he is more standout in defensive metric which we alresdy covered by Thuram

Compare with Fabian Ruiz who excel in 2/3 third of the table :

reason transfer is not happening is because atalanta isn't desperate to sell. they are well managed club that they dont' need to plusvalenza players so they can sign 4th goalies and expiring contract defenders.

their worse case scenario is koop stays for another year. no big deal to them they get to keep a good player.

It matters because its 2 weeks left of transfer window and they want an AM of their choice to replace him before selling. What if they sell Koop and then Celtic says they wanna keep Oreilly. Then they screwed if that's only AM they want.


If they keep Koop until they get him then in case they can't get a replacement of their choice they can force Koop to stay even if he is frozen himself out. Because there's no urgency to sell him, he has contract til 2028.
