Buffon

Cafu - Cannavaro - Maldini - Roberto Carlos

Pirlo

Messi - Zidane - Ronaldinho - C.Ronaldo

Ronaldo

And btw, yes I know the balance is fucked but this was just to make all the best players fit in one team.

You're missing one player and Maldini had his best years in the 1990's. No way the Maldini of the 21st century deserves to be among the best 2 CBs of the time.
Who's that player?
And yes he does, he featured in 3 CL finals in this decade and won two of them while scoring a goal in the process and winning a Scuedetto while also being the best player last year for Milan and not forgetting the fact that he certainly had some legendry games in these past 10 years one of those were against Arsenal two years ago.

How could I know? :D
You have 10 players in your starting line-up so i'm telling you that you're missing the 11th player.

Well, if that's what you think then ok, but as someone who followed Maldini since 1989 i'm telling you that the Maldini of the 21st century was not even close to Maldini from the 1990's. Some might say that it was still enough to make it to the team of the decade, and judging by his team's achievements maybe he does, but judging by his displays he surely doesn't. He was far from being a rock, he lost lots of speed and strength and he played most of this decade on experience. I was always in a happy mood when Milan players were literally owned on the pitch and there were many moments in the last decade laughing at Maldini for being destroyed by some attackers.

Ooh :D

I agree Alen, he certainly was better in the 90s but still to me ,as u've just said, he was still one of the best in the world if not the best in his positon for most of this decade.

He's doing what now exactly? Dragging his fat butt all over the pitch and occasionally come out with an assist? Give me a break, over the past 3 years he did NOTHING.

he still has it in him..just like adriano and ronaldo...but i donno about his motivation for the game, he doesn't seem to care if he's fat or if his game ain't going well.

that still leaves 7 years smarty pants!! ur argument is void as it covers the minority period of the decade (that's TEN years FYI not 3).

If ur justification is that he was bad in 3 then how do u explain the inclusion of messi in other people's teams who has really only been a global hit in 2 of the last 10 years? or vieria who was arguably only good in the first 3?

2 good seasons at Barca. Out of that he sucked, look at him now, I don't think he deserves to be in that squad because of that.
It's team of the decade. He was the best player for a couple of years, a revolutionary player, out of this world. The point is that at his best, I wouldn't pick anyone who's been active in the past decade over him at his position.

It's not a best-average-players-over-the-whole-10-years-award. :p

Or am I missing the point here?

I'm saying he did nothing over the past 3 years, that doesn't necessary have to mean he rocked 7 years, because he didn't. He was good at PSG but nothing extraordinary so his shown display at Barca, like 2 and a half season, won't make me put him in that team. It's just my opinion.
