But hang on there a minute, Porto disgraced football in the Uefa Cup final? It was Celtic who did everything in their power to break the legs of their opposition.
come again? celtic were playing their shitty british football and porto players were diving and simulating injuries all over the place.

I didn't disagree with you, you said pretty much what I said.
no, i said that celtic played like they always play, shitty football and but its their game, tough game, and porto were a bunch of tottis and that isnt exactly what you said.

That all depends on what your perspective is, doesn't it? To me "playing tough" is as much cheating as diving is. How you choose to formulate it doesn't change what it is.

But Martin, I remember that match quite clearly - Porto did dive too much and although diving is common but its as if they dropped dead every five seconds trying to kill time. It just happened WAY too much.

So if they were that bad, the ref should have carded them so much that they would start to get players sent off just for diving. If it doesn't come to that, then apparently they were still playing by the rules. :)

Well, on occassions referees dont always follow the book. But anyhow, it hardly matters - I thought Porto stunk with their act, and perhaps you were right about Celtic - either way it happened. :D

Back to the thread, I prefer Capello's and Sensi's trash talks to Mourinho's. The man simply has NO class.

Problem is that most continental refs, 'tolerate' it more, because it is common place in there own countries, so I can understand the Celtic players/fans getting wound up about it...

So...Celtic simply need to adapt to "continental" football then :)

No, it'll be a bad thing if this starts happening in Britain, it does sometimes, and even some British players are starting to do it...Ashley Cole, Joe Cole etc etc...but not as much...if it means British clubs never win anything in Europe, I'd be happy if it meant we didnt disgrace ourselves by diving...
