JOSE MOURINHO branded Barcelona a bunch of divers as he stepped up his bitter Champions League war of words.
The Chelsea boss is still fuming at the antics of Deco, Ronaldinho and Samuel Eto’o during his team’s 2-1 first-leg defeat in the Nou Camp.
He called on ref Pierluigi Collina to clamp down on Spanish dramatics in tonight’s fight-to-the-finish at Stamford Bridge.
Mourinho said: “Barcelona play beautiful football and have a lot of quality, so they don’t need to dive so much .”
Blues midfielder Joe Cole agreed. He said: “We know what to expect from Barcelona.
“Diving is a part of the Continental game which they seem to accept. In England we try to stay on our feet more.”
Mourinho also hit back at UEFA suggestions he had insisted on Italian Collina taking charge.
The Blues boss said: “I have heard what the gentleman from UEFA has been saying and it is completely untrue. I did not ask for Collina and it is a shame an institution the size of UEFA have chosen to misrepresent what I said.
“I recognise Collina is the best referee in the world, every player would say the same thing.
“I wanted Anders Frisk again because maybe he would help us the way he helped Barcelona in their stadium. Instead we have a referee who will not have a direct influence on the result.”
JOHAN CRUYFF has blasted Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea and revealed: “The idea of them going through against Barcelona fills me with terror.”
The Dutch legend coached Barca to European Cup victory in 1992 and believes Mourinho’s defensive tactics are poisoning European football.
Cruyff added: “Barcelona must knock Chelsea out for the good of football. The Chelsea way of playing is clearly results above everything else.
“I only pray Barca are loyal to their mission of playing beautiful football.”
