yes he was but did not play a single game.

oh and he's very average. Not worth it at all. He doesn't even get many games at his club 'Boro. Metzelder and mertesacker are miles ahead of him.
He doesn´t play because he has injury problems. He is no Jurgen Kohler, but he is defintely not just average, he is good. Often he was played out of his position, that is why he probably didn´t impress you.

He has the potential to overcome Metzelder and Mertesacker, the guy is only 22 years old.

Mourinho did not see anything special in him and craz Carvalho was chosen over him in Chelsea. I'm sorry mark but the guy doesn't impress me at all and I think this would be more evident if he played on a consistent basis without getting injured.

I agree that he is not worth 20 million EURO-s, but if the price is at least 5 millions less I would take the risk and buy both Samuel and Barzagli. Barzagli has more playing years in front of him and he is yet to reach the peak. He could do us many favours in the future. He is no Nesta or Cannavaro, but he is close enough to Ciro Ferrara in his bets years. What do you think ?
I'd love another Ciro! Barzagli has time on his side, & with Ferrara on staff he will have the right people around to realise his potential. With time at Juve he has a chance to become a Nesta type player, IMO.

I dont think Barzagli should cost more than £10 mil. Zampa will take a couple of fringe players and some cash. He has been lucky to keep hold of Barzagli until now.
:agree:

Samuel is a rock at CB, he's out of form now and mainly because he made two wrong career choices in a row, Real Madrid and Inter. If we were to get him I promise you we would have a new Cannavaro on our hands. Samuel is top class stuff, while at Roma he was one of the best CB's in the world. Not to mention he has tons of experience on pretty much all stages. I think this is more of a nationality issue for you, as you insist on Italian CB's and you said so yourself you don't like Argentian players. That's of course your opinion, one which you are entitled to as everyone else, but I believe you're 100% wrong in your Samuel estimation.
Agree 100%. Would prefer if we could get Heinze next to Barzagli but Samuel is a great option.

The bottom line is that we need 2 CB's. Boum and Kovac are not going to make it next year. I think Barzagli is the best choice, the one we put next to him doesn't matter too much as long as he is quality. I would like to see a big guy preferably. Although Balza is good in the air, it is still nice to have a beast.

Indeed , a Jurgen Kohler / Paulo Montero / Gentile style player would be ideal, adding the steel we need.

Barzagli isnt that man, but he could tidy up after a hard man like Matrix.

(NOT SUGGESTING MATRIX)

True and true, 14mil is still a whole lotta money and I'm not sure Barzagli's worth it.
Debatable whether he is worth that amounto of cash but we an knock that price down a bit by offering players in exchange.

Would prefer Heinze to Barzagli at that price .

What do you guys think of Robert Huth ?

IMO he is tough, tall and strong, he would be available for a relatively cheap price and he has many years of football ahead of him. I would especially like to hear an opinion from you JuveGER cause you know all about German players....(and I must say that I appreciate your opinion a lot).
Thank you for your compliment! I'm glad to hear that I don't just waste webspace. ;)

@Huth: That's a tough one. He is indeed very strong and a rock when it comes to set pieces. But he is slow and sometimes a bit sloppy. Especially against fast and technical players he is quite helpless. In my opinion he is not a Juventus starter and we have enough backups. But I have to add that my opinion is only based on his performances in the national team, since he plays in England and I rarely watch Premier League games. That makes it hard to judge him fairly.

I wouldn't mind having Barzagli or giving him a chance, but to buy him for Palermo's asking price is out of the question. They ask for 15-20mil! Sorry but he's not worth it, under 10mil I can live with. No Europe experience, played for small clubs his whole career, negligable International experience. He's talented and can become a great defender, but he's nowhere near his asking price.
spot on, for now hes just a legro in the making

Huth in his younger days was a better defender than he is now. This season, he just doesn't seem to use his head. His lack of positioning abilities and just thinking without throwing himself into challenges, have surfaced and hampered his season.

Also his injuries didn't help at all as well.

so all n all i think we would be taking a huge gamble and he wouldn't as cheap as you think as he was just signed by Boro.

Robert Huth is the shit, Im telling you Skrtel is great, 22, strong, very fast, brilliant manmaker and tackler. Regular in the Slovak NT and today made his second goal in a row;)
