Do you know what a free role is?
Seriously Zach you sound like a broken record with your 3-5-2.
I'm not categorically against 4-3-3. But what a surprising amount of peasant and posters do, is using it as a pathetic excuse to field more fancy.
Last two seasons, everyone was trying to push tevez as a winger. He doesnt have the skillset for it, it would remove his huge goaltreath, OR, he would clog the center, wich you cant have happening in a 4-3-3.
Now its Dybala, and its the same story again. Dybala is danger if he's looking for spaces between defenders and lines, and makes actions there. Pushing him down the wing, would negate that. You cant play Dybala, as a winger. He doesnt have, the characteristics.
Cuadrado works very good in a 4-3-3. But we dont have an opposing winger. And we would bench Dybala and Morata or mandzukic. Coman could play opposing winger, but is far inferior to Dybala at this point.
Imagine we'd have Draxler. THAT would be interesting. We could play 4312 and bench Cuadrado. We could play 433 and bench Dybala. We could play some type of 4231/4411 with Pogba pushing up and dybala playing slightly deeper, so we only bench 1 of morata and mandzukic. That could work, if Draxler tracks back.
So lets see for a second. last season, we had the gaping hole called Pirlo. yet we managed to get around that. This season that hole got plumbed cause we put Marchisio in it. When everyone is fit, we'd have a mid 3 of Marchisio, Pogba and Khedira or Asamoah. Extremely solid. MUCH more solid then playing gaping hole called pirlo.
So what if we play Cuadrado as a right wing back. Are you seriously going to claim that gaping hole called pirlo, was a lesser defensive liability then Cuadrado could be ?
Arent you one of those thats like "fullbacks and wingbacks is least important position". Aka a gap in the center is much worse then some kind of gap down the side ?
What we would do, is play 3-5-2, and have the most right central midfielder help Cuadrado. Last season when Licht was struggeling, Vidal was doing a whole lot of that, while also covering the gap called pirlo.

4-3-3 with Cuadrado-Morata/Mandzukic-Dybala would be beastly. Dybala would have freedom to drift in and out of the centre. We have the fullbacks to cover. It also gives Coman the chance to be first off the bench as a sub on the wing and get significant playing time in a formation that would actually work for him to be an impact sub for us. Morata could also provide coverage on the wing when needed.
If we play 3-5-2 all year, I'm going to cry. Disgusting.
Yeah, basically that is one winger doing his thing, and the other clogging the center, or going to the side where he isnt effective
No, if that works, Conte would have done it with Tevez, and Allegri would have done it with Tevez. It doesnt work, so we dont do that crap.
