Yeah, in 2007 Milan were something like:

Still a system that is dependant on the full backs for width, though, just like 4-3-1-2.

The thing I always remember about that Milan side was that Ancelotti would throw in Serginho in the 2nd half and completely change the shape and style of attack. He also changed to a 4312 for Serie A many times because it was to break down stubborn defenses who parked the bus. Kaka used to always make great runs from deep.

I think thats the whole point. There is no player we can bring on that helps transform the way we play. If we had an attacking winger we would have a different tactical style to use in different situations. The 352 is not a bad system but the subs we have for it are just lesser versions of the exact same players - this is most obviously the case for the wing backs. Padoin, Peluso, Isla etc don't offer much on the flanks.

The squad is way too stacked in central defenders and central mids. Not many penetrating attacking midfielders.

The formation itself is a number 352, 433, 4231 etc. The point is I feel that we lack a quality attacking midfielder period. Someone who can add a different dimension to our play.

I'm not sure if 4-3-1-2 will work for us because it's another narrow formation which if we use we should use it temporary rather than sticking to it permanently.

I'm all for trying it out though. One more midfielder (advanced one!) should help us with dominating the game, being more aggressive, use more pressing and don't drop back so deep like Juve do it now. It should help us keeping possession too which we struggle a lot with in 352.

2 biggest issue with our current tactics since last season are :

1. lack width, duh
2. the position of CMs that are too high on the pitch with a severely weak defensively regista on top of 3 slow CBs make it too easy for teams to counter against us.

As I've said before, the 3-5-2 formation isn't the problem here. The attitude of most of our players are though, and it won't change a damn thing switcing formation, as long as the players don't enter the pitch with the right attitude.

No matter what the formation, Juve needs a competent attacking midfielder to create plays further up t he pitch. If that player is a wide man or someone who roams freely, that would add a new dimension to our play - think Gotze, Mata or Ozil style of player.

Juve doesn't have such a player but that doesn't mean we should fall hostage to the 352 either because we don't have world class wing backs. Juve as a squad has far too many central defenders and central midfielders and not enough attacking mids. Every major team in Europe has several of these players and we only have Pepe or maybe giovinco.

I liked the formation we used against Real but again, this formation consisted of 3 midfielders who are essentially central defensive midfielders and a registra. Juve's squad has fell hostage to accommodating Pirlo which is fine if he can play every game but he is running out of stamina.

If Juve is going to make the leap in class in Europe they need an attacking midfielder. Marchisio & Vidal make some good runs inside the box from time to time but you need someone who can make incisive passes up the pitch and be a real threat to the opposing defense.

Couldnt you play Tevez or Vucinic in that AM role?
