I don't think it's the formation. Our general play has been different than last season. We run less off the ball, even though one could say it was Conte's instruction, but it wasn't just last night. Our link up play with our forwards hasn't been very good. They're always finding those one touch passes which more often they won't succeed. We're not seeing the sort of attacks we saw last season where the team attacked in numbers and together. We're generally slower in our build up play too.
I agree.

I'm getting quite sick of the powerful ground pass to the forwards feet which the forwards struggle to turn into a move.

We started off with 4-3-3 mostly because Conte didn't want to bench Vidal or Marchisio. Now we can't really abandon the 3-5-2 because that would mean benching Asamoah and one of our defenders which is way too much to ask.

I know it's been discussed before, but can someone remind me what are the benefits we get from using 3-5-2 over 4-3-3? Because I'm not sure I see it. I'm saying this off the top of my head, but weren't we scoring at a similar rate but conceding less with the 4-3-3, and keeping possession, barraging opponents' goals and just generally dominating more?

Is it because the 4-3-3 requires a lot more work from our midfield and the 3-5-2? Shouldn't be a problem with the great depth we have there.

Or is it just to fit in players like Asamoah and Bonucci, and keep Chiellini as CB? Not worth it, if that's the reason.
It just allows Juve to be much more controlled in their play, while not having to work anything like as hard through the game.

In 4-3-3, Juve had to play flat out all the time and could only play at a high tempo - they never learned how to rest during games the way they can with 3-5-2.

The lack of any outings of 4-3-3 so far this season may also be to do with Pepe being injured.

I like 4-3-3 far more as a system that 3-5-2, but I don't think Juve have the energy to play 4-3-3 against any semi-decent opponents at the moment.

Furthermore, I'd say the the 3-5-2 is better suited to fielding the best 11 from our squad.

I reckon this is temporarily so. We are still adapting, trying to see how to best manage playing so many games in a short time. Experimenting how much energy to use. Do not forget, despite few additions the past summer, this team was only built last season and few have real CL experience.

we are shockinly bad when it comes to utilitzing corners and indirect free kicks.

i hate this short corner , and low crosses crap. it worked once for bonucci out the 3 thousand we got. time to switch it up.

it's nice to have 2 formations for versatility, but in some games, where you get completely outplayed, it's good to be able to utilize the set piece chances you get. many teams have proven you can grind through matches on that alone.

we should look to utilize it. we do have so many strong physical players like 3, 6 and 9.

I don't understand why we don't aim for Bonucci and Chiellini in corners.

They are both fantastic headers, and Bonucci's jumping is incredible.

Agreed.

Short corners should be an occasional thing when the opportunity presents itself, but the standard thing should be to get the ball into a decent area for people to go and attack it.

now I noticed something, with this 3-5-2, our forwards never dropped to the middle to pick up the ball, they are playing like 2 mobile target men despite that they are naturally SS, this is part of the reason giovinco sucked and vucinic become poor mans ibra...

marchisio and vidal are also lack the free roam to further unlock defenses, marchisio made many forward runs but he didn't utilize spaces in flanks

I just don't get it what is it with this fixation on 3-5-2.

Think Juve could do with man-marking a bit more at the back.

The zonal system, at the moment, is leading to all the CBs looking to each other and none of them really taking responsibilty to deal with a situation.

Man-marking makes things much clearer as to who is responsible for what.

Get the right and left CBs marking, even if it drags them out of position a little, and get the central CB playing more like a sweeper.
