Let's stick to 4-3-3. With other formations we'd need to make far more changes, not to mention ask the players to adapt to a new system, when the 4-3-3 was already serving us well. We only need an upgrade @ RWF and a quality CF to realize the full potential of the 4-3-3.

I think Conte should really think of having a formation without Pirlo. He should get some players so we can play 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2, with Marchisio and Vidal as DM!

Still its always nice to have alternative formation since playing 433 all year long will be too predictable. We got 352 for that.

3-5-2 proved excellent against spain and would against barcelona, and we actually got better players for it then the azurri got.

4-3-3 is a pretty alternative against less crouded midfields, and brings alot of attacking options, a move offensive formation, with diffrent wide and crowded zones.

With the purchase of Isla and no concrete talk of a new LB I am starting to think more and more that we are going to play 4-3-3 next season. I think Chiellini will play a lot at LB. I don't mind that (formation not Chiellini at LB) but I am a big fan of the 3-5-2 and really think that it suits us better and gives us a lot more flexibility.

Having said that depending on the player on the front left of the 4-3-3, that can easily turn into a 3-5-2 if need be, but not with Vicinic

I hope Conte learns from this tournament that against teams like Barca, Arsenal , Man Utd , our extremely slow back 3 is going to have alot of problem. Pace killed Bonucci and Barzagli tonight.
One thing , Conte really learns and willing to change. I hope this tournament has helped him alot.

There isn't any defender in the world right now as good as Cannavaro in his prime. Cannavaro in his prime was even better than Nesta.

Yeh, and to counter that kind of unreal attack, you need that kind of ungodly defenders like a canna on his prime.... and because there isnt such a thing in football nowadays, this spaniards do whatever they please with everyone.

I don't think the 3-5-2 worked that well against Spain. Sure, it was ok sitting back at 0-0, but Italy had no ability to chase the game. At least the 4-3-1-2 gave us the chance to get some control over the midfield (obviously leaving some holes though).

If Asamoah lives up to potential, i can see Conte trying a midfield that includes all 4 CMs...

did you even watch the first game? Italy should've trashed spain 3-0 too at the first game, especially at the first half.

I think you should watch again. There were chances on both sides early... but after 1-1, Italy didn't fire a shot and that's the problem with a 3-5-2 against Barca.

Italy could have won it at the death of Marchisio hit it better.
