I think it’s a good balance with 5 starters under the age of 25. Some of the older guys like Pogba and Di Maria are very much still athletic and can still pass the ball forward which is something we’ve sorely lacked for a few years.
On paper it’s not bad at all. It’s by far the best looking one in the league. If that turns out to be our new squad a scudetto + CL quarter finals is the least one would expect from it.
Mgmt has had all summer to work, season starts in less than 2 weeks and you expect them to:
Sell MDS (weeks after renewal), Pellegrini, Arthur, Rabiot and Zakaria (months after signing him) and sign SMS, Udogie, Kostic and Morata
Thats nowhere near realistic. Realistically we'll maybe have 2-3 outgoings and 2 incomings
This is how we can tell Max is the one to blame. Our MF isn’t good enough, AS is a passenger and injuries are all over but that picture shows Max tactics
The worst part is that Max just kind of correct it by the end of the game, it was obvious for everyone with eyes

The 5 across is actually the proper way to attack but not when the fullback has the ball. Someone has to be there obviously. However, when you play 5 across in attack with two wingers who are pure flank players, naturally the space between the winger and striker opens up.
So to put Rabiot and McKennie in those half spaces is COMPLETE brain damage when you have Locatelli, Miretti and Fagioli. If you don't trust those kids then don't play that fucking formation where you expect the CMs to come into the half space.
Rabiot had 0 goals in 45 matches. He will do nothing in that LCM half space.
And a few days later, here is his genius explanation:
“We emptied the midfield because the Mezzali(central midfielders) played as strikers. Locatelli came too deep, so there was nobody in the middle.
“In the second half, we filled the midfield again so we did a little better. We work every day to improve. We want to play good football and win, but I don’t want to hear about entertainment. I don’t want a pretty and losing team.
He clearly needs to stop playing around with bs experiments with the system and player roles that are unnecessary and don’t really give us any advantage and maybe things could look a bit better, not pretty, but at least more ok.
Gives me the impression he is trying really hard to come out with something new or innovative to the team because of knowing that might be our best bet to make this largely mediocre, unbalanced and injury prone squad to potentially punch above it’s weight on the long run but so far he has failed at it because surprise surprise you can’t just suddenly turn AS in a competent hybrid LCB-LB and neither can you turn McKennie in a potent SS while at the same time using Danillo forced in this RWB type of role which does nothing but limit us even more when trying to come out with the ball from the back, especially while you do not have Bonucci’s long balls available and neither any midfielder capable of carrying the ball up front by himself or at least have someone competent close to him to do quick combinations with aside from the CB’s and the other two limited on the ball defensive fullbacks…

I believe Max already knows it but he keeps throwing shit at the wall hoping that it might eventually stick but for now needs to keep players that are limited or in poor form either out of the starting XI or to at least play them in their natural roles with basic clear instructions that they are able to interpret correctly(although limited) and not in hybrid roles that asks of them something they are not capable in delivering efficiently on and ends up limiting the team as a whole.
