how many years did it take to be approved for immigration to sweden ??
is it based on the points like in australia and canada?
1- I did not apply for immigrations, I applied for a residency permit.
2- It took 6 weeks and I got the time limited (one-year) residency.
3- I renewed after a year, it took 5 minutes to renew and I got another year
4- I renewed afterwards and I got a permanent residency. It too 15 minutes that time.
5- At the three year day in the country I applied for citizenship, I got it after 9 days of application.

Not that the citizenship matters within the country. It only helps on airports.

As I said I applied for residency, neither a student nor did I have a job. Student I've been and a job I have but that came afterwards.

they give residency to anyone who apply even if he is not a student or he dont have a job ??? i know it is not easy to go to any european country if you dont have a job or if you are not a student at least.

so it seems they have the same system as australia of getting needed skills to sweden.
was it easy to settle when you first came ?? or it was easy since you left lebanon since a long time

Jack, I'm planning on returning to Sweden in '09 to try to get into SAS or any of the minor airline companies. Would you suggest I apply for a work permit or uppehållstillstånd? Based on what you're saying I don't see why I should do the latter
