Moyes has consistently told the fans, the press, anyone who'll listen, that Rooney just isn't ready to be a superstar...they just ignore him. You can tell by the storyies in the press about him, and his family problems, that he just isn't at the right stage in his development to be in the spotlight 24/7.

Moving to Man U could destroy him

Agreed. Players like Ronaldo, despite being young, play in a position very much needed by the club, esp. since Beckham's departure. If Rooney tries to compete with Saha and RVN for a position upfront, I'm afraid his career will be horribly stunted.

it seems that alan smith is a confirmed MU player. is this valid? came out in the local newspaper, they don't lie, but haven't seen it anywhere else.
I've read it on BBC and watched it on Al-Jazeera. I'd say it's confirmed.

Man U have made two bids (top £8M). Leeds are waiting for a third, which they hope will be nearer their asking price

    From the BBC:-

    Smith to complete deal

England striker Alan Smith could seal his £8m transfer from Leeds to Manchester United on Monday.
Leeds director Peter Lorimer insisted a deal has not yet been finalised, but suggested it could be done soon.

"We have offers from other clubs but Alan has said he would like to got to Old Trafford," revealed Lorimer.

"That is the situation as it is now and with United in the cup final we will look at it again next week. At present Alan remains our player."

Everton made a £7m bid for Smith after United had offers of £3.5m and £5.5m turned down by Leeds.

But Smith is thought to want a move to United, with the prospect of Champions League football to look forward to.

Old Trafford boss Sir Alex Ferguson already has Ruud van Nistelrooy and Louis Saha as first-choice strikers with the likes of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and David Bellion capable of operating up front.

Smith would give United's manager more options in that department, with the bonus that he can also play in midfield.

However, his arrival in Manchester might also cast a shadow over Van Nistelrooy's future, with Real Madrid constantly linked with a £40m move for the Dutchman.

    Hey sutnop, howday.

We'll it looks as if Rivaldo is going to Bolton...I'm not that bothered about that one..
Francis Jeffers is interesting O'Neil as is the Bulgarian Barbatov who plays in Germany. M.Amoruso has been asked to join Celtic on tour in North America this summers too. So Maybe we'll get a good replacement

As for Rangers...Prso and Boumsong are good players and it could be a good run in this year

    From the BBC:-

Dutch striker Patrick Kluivert has ruled out a move to Middlesbrough, but has expressed interest in playing for a "big London team" in the Premiership.
The 27-year-old was released on Tuesday by Barcelona and Middlesbrough made him one of their top transfer targets.

But Kluivert dealt the northeast club a blow, telling the Sunday Mirror: "I've no intention of going to Middlesbrough.

"I will not consider a move to a small club. I would like to go to one of the big London teams."

Boro chief executive Keith Lamb revealed some of his transfer targets on Saturday.

""We have identified our targets and it's true that Kluivert is one of them," he told BBC Radio Cleveland.

"But we're interested in Mark Viduka at Leeds and Yakubu at Portsmouth as well and we're trying to make progress."

We have started and we will try to move things forward

"Progress is slow at the moment. That's because it's the traditional holiday period for players, but we expect things to start happening in a couple of weeks' time."

Kluivert's reported £80,000-a-week wage had been expected to prove a stumbling block for clubs interested in his services.

And the Dutchman's agent Kim Laudrup remained tight-lipped on Boro's claims.

"I have no comment to make either way," Laudrup told BBC Sport from Barcelona.

Kluivert, along with Edgar Davids, Phillip Cocu and Marc Overmars, was released as part of Barca's plans to trim their wage bill.

Kluivert, a Champions League winner with Ajax in 1996, has been at Barca since 1998 but was relegated to the substitutes bench this season.

He scored 90 goals in his 181 appearances for the Catalan giants, but had become a target for fans who claimed he was most interested in running his trendy bar.

    From the BBC:-

Porto midfielder Costinha has joined team-mate Deco in expressing a desire to follow Jose Mourinho to Chelsea.
Champions League-winning coach Mourinho is expected to be named as Claudio Ranieri's successor next week.

Costinha said: "I still have two years left on my contract at Porto I'd love to go with Mourinho.

"My agent is taking care of it and I know there will be developments over the next few days. I know if I go I will have more success," he added.

Porto playmaker Deco had said on Saturday: "Of course I'd like to go to Chelsea as he's a coach I know well.

"He's won everything here and now has other ambitions.

"I've a preference for the English league because of the way the play."

A source close to Chelsea has told BBC Sport Mourinho has given owner Roman Abramovich a list of eight players he wants to bring to Stamford Bridge.

Two of the players on that list are Porto players - defender Ricardo Carvalho and right-back Paulo Ferreira.

    From the BBC:-

On-loan Fulham midfielder Junichi Inamoto is hoping his move from Gamba Osaka can become a permanent one.
"I hope I will still be here next season because there are great players and great staff," Inamoto said.

"I have felt good this season and I hope that I can keep my concentration and carry that on to next season.

"There will be good things happening here and it would be great to be part of it. There is a lot to look forward to," he told the Cottagers' website.

Matthias Sammer has taken charge of Stuttgart , one day after parting company with Borussia Dortmund.
Sammer, 36, has signed a three-year deal at Stuttgart and replaces Felix Magath, who has taken over from Ottmar Hitzfeld at Bayern Munich.

"Everything has happened really quickly over the past few days," said Sammer, who won the Bundesliga as a player with Stuttgart in 1992.

"I will try to carry on the great work done by Magath."

Sammer joined Dortmund as a managerial novice but in his four years at the helm he won the German title and the Uefa Cup.

He left with two years remaining on his contract in order to take up the position at Stuttgart.

"Together we came to the decision that a separation is the best solution, even if it is hard to for all concerned," said club president Gerd Niebaum.

Dortmund said they would name a successor for Sammer this week.

Dutchman Bert van Marwijk, whose contract at Feyenoord runs out at the end of the season, is among the favourites for the job

    Now this is also interesting...

Roberto Carlos Rejects Madrid's Latest Contract Offer

05/30/2004. Roberto Carlos' future with Real Madrid is in serious jeopardy after the Brazilian international full-back rejected the club's latest contract offer.

Madrid has reportedly offered him a contract extension for an additional two seasons, but he is said to be asking for a four-year contract extension.

"They'll say 'We'll see how he plays the next two years and then we have the option of giving him two more years at the club,'" he said.

"I'm 31 and my career path will not allow me to accept this kind of thing," he added.

Roberto Carlos, arguably the best left-back in the world, is in Rio de Janeiro preparing for Brazil's South American 2006 World Cup qualifier against Argentina in Belo Horizonte on Wednesday.

He has stated that he wants to remain with Madrid but if both parties fail to agree on a deal within the next few weeks, look for him to seriously begin considering a move to Chelsea.

Roberto Carlos has been negotiating for several weeks with Madrid club officials about an extension of his existing contract which runs till June 30 next year.
