It still doesn't add up, how can a former man city bench player be worth nearly as much as Forest are prepared to pay for someone who was formerly one of the best mids in the EPL?

We are getting our pants pulled down on this and Forest are quite literally laughing their arses off at it.

Great if they can afford it, so make them pay for it, I'm sick and tired of us giving concessions especially to clubs who I know can afford it. It needs to stop! We're only devaluing our market.
He played for City, a club winning trophys. Thats why he is expensive. Look how much Bayern paid for Luis Diaz who played for Liverpool. Also the reason why Real Madrid and Barcelona can sell players for so high fees.
We might be able to sell Yildiz (i hope we dont) for say €70m right now. Lets say we win the Scudetto and fare well in CL this season, we could probably sell Yildiz for €140m next summer. If we fail this season and end up fourth in Serie A and round of 32 in CL I doubt the price of Yildiz would even increase next summer..

So why didn't we sell Champions league finalist Angelo Ogbonna for like 40 mill to West ham?

the lad is still unproven, more so than Luiz has demonstrated in the EPL, what did Hutchinson do or win asides from get relegated with Ipswich? he's gone for over 40 mill ffs!

Locatelli had 2 goals and 2 assists after playing 4000 minutes. Frattesi had 3 goals more and he played 2000 minutes less.

Locatelli is literally useless.

Kinda disingenuous tho. They very different in how they are used. Locatelli plays deep, just infront of CBs, spreading possession, not going forward to shoot or make the final passes (tho he has one of the most passes into box in league).

Frattesi is essentially an AM/winger disguised as free roaming CM because he lacks the talent for those roles full time (tho Italy used him in front 3). His entire role in Inter has been come in as AM behind the two attackers and make off the ball runs into the box to finish attacks when they are chasing games.

I agree with you that he is massively overpaid for! I don't get the valuation either.

or maybe, just maybe that is the going rate for players now in 2025 and some of us still living like it's 2005.
All of it can be true at the same time.

We have low market value of players because of poor results, Serie A sucks as a product so clubs see the league as a cheap market. Guy like Reijnders goes for €60M for example which is excellent value for money.

And clubs are mostly broke, they need the money and this reduces their bargaining position in turn.

Not quite, he had surgery on his pulbia (whatever that groin area is called) to correct it, he's due to be back in training this week if he hasn't already done so. Prior to that his injuries are somewhat limited.
So he’s only just back after eight months out with a muscle injury. Honestly, bit of a question mark, even though he looked class against us.

I dont agree with the relations between Serie A as a product and player valuations. Players like Retegui went for 60 plus mill this summer for example. Even Raspadori who everyone on tuz likes to mock went for a very decent sum too.

Ligue 1 for example is not exactly a great product either, yet clubs like Rennes and Nice will have no problems selling players for large sums of money.

This time last year I would have championed the idea of selling Locatelli. However, I think he was one of our most improved players last season. He is an important player in the coach's eyes and is the club captain. He forms part of the club identity together with loyalists like Yildiz and others like Bremer and Cambiaso and even Gatti forms part of the identity of the team even though he is not exactly world class. So selling him for 25m would make zero sense.

GK: Di Gregorio, Perin, Pinsoglio
LCB: (Veiga?), Cabal, Kelly
CCB: Bremer, Savona, Rugani
RCB: Gatti, Kalulu
LM: Cambiaso, Rouhi, Kostic
LCM: Thuram, Koopmeiners, Adzic
RCM: Locatelli, (O'Riley?), McKennie
RM: J.Mario, (Molina?), Gonzalez
LW: Yildiz, Miretti
RW: Conceicao, (Zhegrova? Sancho?)
ST: Kolo Muani, David, Vlahovic, Milik

Transfer priorities ranked by me:
  1. Need a left footed starter CB if we can replace Kelly. Can only think of Veiga
  2. Need a CM backup like O'Riley or something.
  3. Need a right midfielder in like Molina
  4. Nice to add another creative/winger type of player to rotate with Conceicao/Yildiz: Zhegrova or Sancho
  5. Nice to have better backup LM than Rouhi. Unless we trust in Rouhi..
