I can't disagree. Both look very bad.
Only 42 average passes per game is downright bad for a midfielder.
You can't be more pedestrian than that.
It means that he doesn't like to get involved in build up play, only likes short and safe passes, he doesn't have any technical awerness and he is very lazy(doesn't like to position himself to receive a pass in a dangerous positions).

Tbf I'd argue a lot of that is us playing slow, passive football in Serie A whereas even the shittest teams in the PL are often playing direct end to end football most games.
Look at what we did to Pjanic. By the end of his stint here he was a sideways pass merchant bar the occasional wonder ball every 8 games.
I watched United a fair bit last season for lols and I seen the game yesterday and Mctominay was just indescribably awful.
