Twisting and turning, really. With an extension for Paulo, we'd be looking for a starting striker as well.
Why? I said neither AS nor Pellegrini can be our starter next season… our MF is our priority and everyone knew it for at least 4 years except our management who was quite happy with just rejected players like Rabiot, Ramsey, Can, Arthur

A one-legged 40-year-old Luka Modric is a massive upgrade on all our midfielders combined.
Yeah without a doubt. Doesn’t have the legs for 50 games anymore but is still class. Missed 7 games this season and 2 of them due to covid. Had a immense game recently against PSG.

I understand tho that some are not keen on signing old players but Modric would be a good exception. It’s not that age is a pressing issue at the club, especially without Chiellini and Sandro. It’s important to have some players in the squad who have won almost everything.

No. Fuck No! We signed Pirlo when he was 32, a spring chicken compared to Modric. Yes, Modric is a great player, but he is turning 37 in September FFS!

Can we please stop this obsession with reheated soup, and instead of buying a semi-retired pro actually look for the next prospect?

Age is just a number :ghey:

He's still great.

Obviously don't want him on a 5 year contract. But if we could get him on a 1+1 year contract (like Alves iirc) I'd gladly take him.

We have a new management in place so let's not bring up those old cows. A new management that has already secured Locatelli, Zakaria and Vlahovic in the last 2 windows. Probably our 2 best midfielders and by far our best striker (which was obviously another priority). So yeah, I'd call it twisting and turning.

Does it matter tho if your midfield looks like this:

Modric (36), Fagioli (21), Rovella (20), Locatelli (23), Zakaria (25), Pogba/SMS (29/27), McKennie (23)

It does because Modric will still be playing majority of the games because 'experience' whilst the Fagioli's and the Rovella's would be spending most of their time eating pasta or playing PS5.

At Real, Modric has a defensive beast like Casemiro to protect him. Who do we have at Juventus that's going to provide the same level of defensive solidity?

We're going to arrive at a point where Modric given his age will become an absolute liability in midfield. I prefer to see us build a more balanced, athletic midfield even if they don't being up as good as the Modric's or the Iniesta's of the world.

You can't bank on a 37 year old player to improve your midfield during a transitional period.
