You don't think tonali and bentancur are similar? Obviously the passing is not there but i feel tonali would mean benching bentancur
I think they could play together, Bentancur DM Tonali on of the other 2 spots. Could flip it if need be, I sort of like that we could be flexible with it. But I do see what you are saying.
They are both smart players, Tonali a little further forward with more freedom, it could work.

IMO Bentancur is best RCM, some of us here like him as holding mid just because Pjanic been so inept. But static holding role isnt the best way to get out of Bentancur imo, his pressing and short passing game needs freedom of movement. While Tonali also being able to play mezzala, is equally as adept at the holding regista role.

Nah Zaniolo is more central. He is mezzala or AMC, while Kulu is RW or AMC.
He doesn't play centrally much, and never mezzala since Fonseca doesn't use them, he is Roma's main right winger.

They play a 4-2-3-1 with a good amount of rotations since Fonseca hasn't figured out his team (and had many injuries), the usual names are
Dezko
Kluivert - Pellegrini - Zaniolo

He is surely young and talented enough to adapt to different roles, but so far he looks best there.

I agree that Kulusevski and Zaniolo would seem to fill the same role in the team. I don't know what Kulusevski will do here though. Maybe Sarri sees him as a midfielder, which I hope for.

Fair enough if you think they can coexist I'll take your word for it, how would our mid look if we switch pjanic for tonali?

Tonali DM, Bentancur RCM, but we need a big signing for LCM. I'm praying for Pogba or SMS, I would be ecstatic for Auoar too. But there isnt much other dynamic two way players that would elevate us on the market.

I can see us foregoing Tonali and going for cheaper Jorginho, so we can go all out for the big LCM purchase.

I like SMS too but Lotitto wont give him to us unless we pay 80m cash. I dont see that happening.

I see what you're saying, but I kind of agree that he'll settle for that spot Berna has with us, which floats between AM/RW and RM. For Parma in the wide area he's essentially RW attacking and RM defending, so if he ends up at right mezz'ala for Juve it wouldn't be a surprise.

If he becomes some attacking force and hits the ground running then I'd expect him to stay as forward as possible, but we'll see. We could do with a genuine Dybala alternative.

But Pjanic clearly isn't working here. Why keep him when we can at least get some value for him now? Another weak season and a year older it only gets harder to get rid of him.

I want to know why people are so keen on van de Beek
I can answer that one as I (used to) watch Ajax week in week out. It's quite simple: he's a very dynamic midfielder who can play as B2B and #10 and is quite good in the offensive en defensive phase as he combines endless running/pressing with good technique. Just imagine a Matuidi with a much better technique and movement. Just last year he's put up 17 goals and 13 assists while he put the midfield of the BM, RM, Juve and Tottenham to shame (3G/2A in the CL). He's simply very intelligent in his movement. Yep swap Pjanic for De Jong and we have a deal. Also why not bring in De Beek so that Sarri can play his total football. Does anyone here rate Ziyech? Might as well get him in a package deal including VDB... So many rumours but nothing concrete, we will most likely end up getting Jorginho and Palmieri from Chelsea.

I agree it is the last chance to properly cash in on Pjanic but it I think it is pretty harsh to say he clearly isn't working.

He was excellent in the first half of the season and certainly a candidate for our best performer, plus a key player under Allegri. His performances dropped dramatically around the turn of the year but could it have been from virtually playing constantly and never rested? He certainly played like a guy carrying an injury. Or was he exposed by a poor Sarri system that the opposition world out how to stop? There is usually more to such a drop.

If we do decide to cash in on him, replacing him with Tonali or Jorginho would be worrying. We need a top midfielder to replace him.

If the alternative is Jorginho? Id keep the better player. Its Sarris job to find a system where his best players work, not to implement a system that requires us to downgrade.

If we get Tonali thats another story. 20 years old Italian NT cornerstone player, we can build around him for a decade atleast.

Italian lolzilians, worst combo. They peak late but decline early.
