Allan is so much better than Matuidi that it's painful to watch. Fabian Ruiz >>>> Bentancur. ZIelinski is a better option to have than our German bros. Pjanic is the only one holding up our midfield.

The midfield is the problem. We went up against a team that fielded 3 midfielders that are all better than our Matuidi and Bentancur. That's a problem.

Allan is great while the rest are average
Pjanic is great while the rest are average
Fabian Ruiz is not better than Bentancur...
Zielinski is not that great - He just fits the tactic..
Matuidi (overall not just last month or two..) is not a bad player at all
The rest of our roster is better than Napoli - No I wouldnt swap midfield - I`d just take Allan..

When teams look good or bad it depends on 2 things - quality&tactic
Quality wise I`d even say we are better than Napoli but tactic wise our team needs a serious change...

Ramsey could be an interesting purchase - He is a good player who should be able to guarantee a starting spot
Matuidi would be ok in a rotation role
Pjanic - He seems to seriously lost it
*Insert Name* - With one purchase (a non free one) we could really change our midfield - You know who Im rooting for but the thing is its quite easy improving our mid so whoever we get for 80M or more should be able to upgrade our midfield and even take a key role..

P.S despite of tactic we scored 7 more goals than Napoli - I guess you understand that Ronaldo Mandzukic Dybala D.Costa Bernardeschi are about X100 times better than Napoli`s attack of Callejon Insigne Milik Mertens..
Their best player is probably not as good as our worst player..

Our attack is a world away from Serie A while we also have the best defense. That's the reason we dominate. Fabian is a much better player than Bentancur at this stage. He looks like what we want Bentancur to become, he is clean in his game while also daring. Makes runs and shots. Plays in the center or on the sides. He basically finished Hamsik's career at Napoli.

I just went to my FM mode and checked whoscored in the top leagues+Holland+Portugal - I checked for goals+assists removing players at the age of 30 or more while taking the overall rating also into account on some occasions and this is what I found out (interesting players):

La Liga:
Name age Goals Assists Opinion
Pablo Sarabia 26 8 9 Anyone has info?
Leroy Sane 23 8 9 Very Good
Paul Pogba 25 11 8 The best in the world at his role IMO
Mohamed Salah 26 17 7 Has Serie A experience and verified himself as a great player everywhere
Eden Hazard 28 12 10 Everybody knows Hazard...
Raheem Sterling 24 12 9 Not impressed
Bundosligue:
Luka Jovic 21 15 5 Anyone has info?
Sebastian Haller 24 11 8 Dont watch Bundosligue but I heard he is the player of the year in Germany... Anyone has info?
Jadon Sancho 18 8 10 Dont watch Bundosligue but I heard he is the young player of the year in Germany... Anyone has info?
Thorgan Hazard 25 9 7 Dont watch Bundosligue. Anyone has info?
Ligue 1:
Kylian Mbappe 20 22 6 Everybody knows Mbappe
Nicolas Pepe 23 16 8 Anyone has info?
Florian Thauvin 26 12 5 I have been following him for years now - very good player but at this point Im not sure we should take him (provide these stats every year)
Holland:
Hakim Ziyech 25 14 9 Good player but not too impressed..
Steven Bergwijn 21 9 12 Anyone has info?
Hirving Lozano 23 14 6 We were actually linked with him once.. Good player but I`ll pass as I think for his price we can do better...
Luuk de Jong 28 20 5 Actually I dont rate him but stats wise I had to put him in the list
Joao Felix 19 8 4 Age and stats suggest we should try hard to get him. Anyone saw him play?
Bruno Fernandes 24 11 7 Dont think he is Juve material but then again barely watched him

Neymar - You all know Neymar but since he is a 300M worth of player I decided to write him off...

BTW we are linked to both Lukaku and Romagnoli in the same day by the great toilet paper "The Sun"

Juve need to target the best young players instead of going after ~30 years olds like Marcelo and Ramsey.
Our tactics on the transfer market is starting to feel a bit like Milans before they fell into their current slump: sign old legends in the twilight of their careers like Beckham and Ronaldinho, let the key core of the team age without necessarily having long-term replacements in place and slowly turning away Italian players in favour of high-paid foreign mercenaries. Meanwhile during that 2011-12 season we built a young squad centered on a fully Italian spine of BBC, Buffon, Marchisio and Pirlo which let us flourish and completely dominate the competition for years to come.

Now the dealings are actually reversed, and Milan are actually doing well again with their young team centralized on an Italian spine. We still hold a massive lead to all the other teams due to the fact that we have the financial upper hand, but if we keep trying to buy players like Marcelo to join our recent dealings like Ronaldo, Matuidi and Bonucci while shipping the likes of Caldara the other way, the investment won't last for more than a couple of seasons like we saw with Higuain.

This is what I was thinking today - the striking similarities in so many aspects between current Juve and that Milan.
The football quality is the same too.

Seriously comparing this squad to Allegri's Milan is such an insult. It's nowhere as bad as its being portrayed over here.

Besides Milan and doing well in the same sentence after like what ? 7 years. They are several levels below us. Another ridiculous exaggeration to even compare the two situations.

Lol knew someone would get mad. Of course the situations aren't perfectly comparable, they never are, but there are still telling signs that transfer dealings like these don't usually end up too well in the long run. Other comparable teams in recent years are Inter and United who fell into similar traps, as they let their all their old core players leave without a proper long term replacements and instead went for high-paid stop gap solutions.

Our situation is still quite good compared to that of Milan in 2011-12 and is still completely solvable with the right transfer dealings. However if we look at our starting XI and ask ourselves how many of our core players like Chiellini, Bonucci, Mandzukic, Matuidi, Khedira and even Ronaldo will be playing CL-knockout level football in 3 years, I'd be tempted to say that none. Most of those core players mentioned don't have a real replacement lined up and if we add the likes of Marcelo to the mix it certainly won't help.

Not that I necessarily agree with the comparison, but I find funny that Milan 2011/2012 was also top heavy just like our team. Coincidence or a personal Allegri preference?
