It's that simple only because fans like you try to think in simple terms like that.

At the time Higauin was a fantastic upgrade for us. Only thing bad about his signing is us grossly overpaying for him.

Well you can't just discard the price like 'the only think bad about him'. First of all it's not true and second of all his price is a major sticking point. You can't get paid like the best in the world and get treated like we're just happy to have you, congrats you're better than Morata and Llorente.

Besides the price - his physical shape, his past and proven history of choking in CL, the fact he's not the best fit with Dybala and our style of play, etc. are all major problems. Nothing will ever convince me we wouldn't have had the same success if we had Džeko/Diego Costa for example with a better midfielder like Kante who went to Chelsea just 10 days before we signed Higuain for measly 35-40 million.

Wow he's a master of spin.

Let’s assume it’s true. #ACMilan get rid of their highest paid player (Bonucci) who doesn’t want to be there but get an immediate replacement in Caldara who is the very best defender of his generation. They also get, without buying him outright, a striker in Higuain who fills the biggest void in their team; a proven, reliable goal scorer. Meanwhile, #Juventus lose Higuain without making money from a sale & swap a 24-year-old sensation for 31-year-old who has, for two consecutive summers, not known his ass from his elbow. I mean, Bonucci suddenly decided that Juve wasn’t for him, went to Milan, became captain, scored a goal v Juve & (rightly) celebrated it. Now he wants out at Milan? What if next year he wants PSG or MCFC? Then Juve don’t have Caldara either. Fin.
We can also say Juventus get rid of their highest paid player (Higuain) who they don't need and is a huge burden on the balance sheet but they already have the best player in the world in his place. They also get a proven WC defender who fills a need as a playmaker from defense, something Juventus struggled with mightily last season. What if Juve doesn't make this deal, Caldara doesn't play much like Rugani didn't over the years and he wants out next year anyway. Then Juve don't have Bonucci, don't have Caldara either.

If we check similar stats for Acerbi he will probably have better stats then Bonucci too. But that doesn't change the fact one is a top player and other is unproven talent at top level.

They clearly different styles, approaches and strengths despite playing in same position.

I agree that both are a different players, but don't agree that Bonucci is a top player. The only thing that is top in his game are passes.Other than that nothing special. Also not to mention his trademark "Bonucci" errors. Not better than Benatia.Yes,Caldara is a unproven prospect. But have everything one player needs to become exceptional. Not to mention Bonuccis celebrating his goal against us at Turin. But obviously Marotta/Paraticci have something in their minds about him.

FFS don't give away Caldara. I could understand selling Rugani for 50m because that's actually a lot of money. Swapping Caldara for Bonucci is simply retarded.

Right now we should be doing the business with Chelsea. Sell them Higuain and Rugani and then lowball the fuck out of milan. They're the ones desperate to get rid of Bonucci who is unmotivated on a huge salary for them.

If we need to balance out the books, then I'm fine with selling Rugani for ~50m. I'm not fine with swapping Caldara with Bonucci though.

More than the deal itself, i'm more annoyed at the people actually rationalizing it

I swear you'd have people rationalizing swapping Dybala for Calhanoglu if we did it tomorrow

We get rid of Higuain's large salary only to bring in another old fart with an equally big salary as him. And somehow this is justified.

How do you call selling a player you and himself wanted out to an old rival, becomes instant captain of that team, the player makes a joke of himself by making blunders I have not even seen in the Maltese Premier League to date, scores against us in the Allianz Stadium and celebrates as if he had a point to prove, becomes the joke of Serie A, Juve in the mean time buys a huge talent in his position considered the best of his generation in Italy, Juve also buys the best player in the world and fianlly to get Bonucci back on higher wages (almost double) and give away the same talent bought only 6 months ago whilst in process loaning out our best striker possibly in the last decade to the same old rival?

If that's not a joke then you're an even bigger one.

Yes, if you avoid all context those deals are comparable.

We're going to ignore the fact Bonucci would cost WAY less annually, would have at least a million net lesser salary, would provide something we actually need, plays at a position where it's traditionally much easier to stay on top for longer, etc.

Calma, we are all waiting on MU and RM. Nobody gives a damn about WC Milan. They could be a destination for Pjaca or Benatia - nobody else. Nobody is going to lose a week negotiating with a party who does not ever come close to the realization of their real situation.

Chelski need to sell and after they do they have to satisfy Sarri. We are there waiting and we have 2 WC strikers, who went to the WC not as pundits, we will find a buyer even if we are going to make a small loss. Moreover - we went an extra mile for Higuain to lesser the competition, we aren't gonna gift him back in Italy to increase it.

Basically his arguments are,

-Higuain is not a top player apparently but Bonucci is one

-We want to get rid of Higuain's large salary but happy to accommodate Bonucci's equally large salary (top kek)

-Bonucci has made the difference 'internationally' which Higuain supposedly never has

Such numpty arguments. Joke is an understatement.

SO many things are wrong here.

1. Bonucci didn't want out to Milan. Allegri set an ultimatum me or him and then Leo refused to leave Italy. His ego got too big.
2. He made errors any CB would make in that shithole of a team. When Gattuso took over everything was much better. Even if it wasn't, that doesn't mean anything. We know how he played for us and I'm pretty confident he'll be able to do that for a few more years.
3. He did have a point to prove because our fans booed and insulted him all games. Same with Bernardeschi at Franchi.
4. Juve bought Caldara 6 months before Bonucci left. Best of his generation is because he played consistently which is key for any CB. Both Rugani at Empoli and Romagnoli have been more impressive while much younger. Only know is Caldara on their level or slightly better which is no guarantee because we've seen what not playing consistently can do to player's perception. I'm 100% sure if Rugani went to Atalanta tomorrow and played a year there consistently everyone would be back raving about him. Caldara hype now is nothing compared to his last season with Empoli.
5. Caldara was bought 1,1/2 year ago
6. Higuain is not the best striker in the last decade, not even close (Del Piero, Trezeguet, Tevez) nor is Milan a rival right now nor will they be anytime soon.

How do I call it? By far the best team we've had since 2006. Not even close.
